Long shot, after a project. Can anyone help :-)

The plan to buy a project zed is being shelved for now. Reason being we do a lot of camping and I'd like something big, vulgar and fun :)

Must meet a couple of requirements though

No rust , I.e sills and arches. I don't mind some surface rust but nothing that would be considered an advisory on an MOT

Must have mot so I can drive it away legally.

Must be big, 7 seats sort of size. Not that ill defiantly be keeping the seats In there

I'm winning a big on a toyota estima at the moment. How horrible are they!! but cheap and fun is what I'm after!

I've looked at the following:

Mitsubishi shogun

Toyota prevai/estima/lucida

Mercedes Vito

Mazda bongo

The Mazda and the merc are a little out of my price range really

I'm looking at no more than £500, it is a project buy after all so I'm not expecting mint.

Feel free to add to my list of potentials.

Nissan terrano I like too but they seem to fetch big cash

So if you have something similar or know of one then let me know :)

Cheers

I have to counter this by saying the Ford Explorer is an absolutely GASH car having owned two of them!

I have a Range Rover V8 you can buy off me but it will cost you a little bit more than £500 so pm me if you are interested and your budget is adjustable slightly...

I loved my explorer, but it was quite a late one with less than 20k on the clock.

ime on the lookout atm for a nice Mitsubishi Delcia...8 seats that fold down to a double bed and the added bonus of shogun running gear including 4x4...great trucks mate:wink:

I'm winning a bid on a transit too rofl: don't know what the Mrs would say if I rocked up with a LWB transit and a Toyota lucida  that would make 5 cars in the house hold hahaha

Transit, parts cheap, easy to fix, cheap panels if needed.........Lucida,well,let's not go there!

Very good point, but to get a transit for around the £500 mark that's not rotted will be very difficult. A transit would be ideal to be honest.

I'm not sure how much you want to spend matey but I've bought a vw t5 panel van done it up and will be looking to sell it in the summer, great project loved it

easy to work with and the prices they go for after is well worth the effort you put in

Not quite what I'm after Ian, :) a normal LWB tranny would be great. But they're just a little over budget

  • Author

Ah never mind, funnily enough I've found a tranny in the mighty salop!!! I'm off to see it tomorrow. And still winning a bit on a toyota lucida..... Oooops

Oh dude keep clear of the Lucida! Notorious for over heating and head gasket failure. Stupid engine is under the seats like a bongo!

Shelving this plan for a few months. Getting a 15 seater transit minibus. Need to save some cash :-)
