I don't like selling stuff on eBay as I've been messed around in the past but put my car on last night & got quite a bit of interest already. Got a message from a collector in New York or so they say, it seems a bit far fetched. Am I being over cautious? Obviously I won't do anything stupid like give him my bank details or the car for free. Here's the message anyway. He's asked me the date of manufacture.

dont give him any VIN details Tom....the scammer might "clone" the car:whistling:

Sounds like crap to me.

Just a scammer looking for VIN details. Basically he's angling for you to take a picture of the VIN plate and send it to him.

There are hundreds of Z32's for sale in the US, so no way a collector would want one all the way from the UK.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Send him a close up of your arsehole mate and ask him to get a date from that...

That's what I was thinking. & doubt someone would go to all the effort to import a zed from here into the US especially if the laws are as strict as he's making out.

Being a scouser! your car will be a clone anyway :D

possibly a scammer but

If your car is more than 25 years old, it can be imported into the U.S regardless of whether it conforms to U.S Safety, Bumper and Emission regulations as the date of manufacture precedes the applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) being in effect. It is important to note that if the date the vehicle was manufactured is not identifiable on a ‘label’ or plate permanently fixed to the vehicle by the manufacturer you must provide documentary evidence that details the date of manufacture. Acceptable forms of documentation include a vehicle registration document or an original sale document (invoice) showing the date the vehicle was first sold. If this is not available it may be possible, on application, to use a statement from a recognised vehicle historical society identifying the age of the vehicle. To declare your vehicle as being over 25 years old to U.S customs you will be required to complete a HS-7 http://www.autoshippers.co.uk/usa_car_shipping_guide.htm#Cars over 25 years old

Where about on the car does it tell you the exact date of manufacture? Thought it would just be the year.

hes just asking for the date it was made. .... I sold my lotus elise to a guy in Canada of ebay aswell.. as long as you get cash upfront how can he rip you off just used ye head no cash in hand no car simple as that

Think there is a label on the seatbelt which gives month and year of manufacture.

Thats if you know no one has changed them? Roller blind/ rear carpet/ rear light plastic cover and door sill kick plates. again all these could have been changed. Best if someone has Nissan Fast

yes you right daffy there is a tag on the seatbelt that gives year of production

Just the year? Think this guy wants the exact date.

He only asked for the manufacture date which in the states is on a steel plate either on driver side door sill or under the hood on the slam panel. I had a 1990 2 seater na manual and its year of manufacture was 1989 even though the title aka log book states 1990 And aslong as he pays cash you shohldnt be worried about anything the rest is his problem how where and when the car vets to its final destination

With paypal theres a lot of scammers out there who say they've paid money into your account and send you emails of confirmation from paypal and demand the goods. Followed by nasty threats . If its a scam youll know and even if you gave your bank details for a bank transfer of funds theres nothing he can do except deposit money into your account.

Unless theres been a technological innovation in that area that I am unaware of :/ lol
