Hey all  ,

Toying with the import route of buying a Zed, cos of all the warnings & horror stories I keep hearing- does anyone have any experience/good/bad stories of going through an import agency?

I've seen a list of companies on one of the other Zed sites...

How long does the process take? So many questions...

Cheers people

Pete

There are only 2 I can think off which I have heard bad things about. And the thing is they are the same 2 names that keep coming up. For legal reasons I wont mention them.

With any imports its hit or miss whether you get a good one. But now most are checked out and given a category before they leave Japan on the quality.

I could recommend DRS in Worthing, that's where mine came from and they did a fine job. Can't remember the number but it's on that 'other' site ;)

This it?

Pete, before you do that get an insurance quote for an Import and a UK spec;)

Pete, My import came through http://www.northwestimports.co.uk/ and they get my recommendation. From previous posts, I think a few other people have bought their Zs through NWI and been very please with the service and car (you can do a search to find these posts). Worth giving Ian Hazelar a call, but you can see a couple of 'older' Zs offered on their site.

Good luck, Geoff

Yep, the sales geezer will talk your ears off but I had few complaints about the quality of the car and the conversion/preparation work that was done on mine.

Cheers guys,

I'm printing all this...

Mac - does an Import cost that much more to insure? I've only had a couple of quotes, just off the internet (most say "ring us about this type of vehicle" after you've spent 1/2 an hour entering details  ). Tescos is the best so far at £1,800 FC arggh - but I'm soooo willing to pay that! - btw Tescos only gives the Import option IIRC. Haven't tried any specialist/classic car companies such as the ones I hear about on here. I've just renewed with Adrian Flux, so I'd be at their mercy for the rest of the year anyway  .

Importing seems easier in a way cos you can give them loads of specs to include, and they'll find one to suit.

Cheers
