Anyone ever suffered a torn calf muscle? I had an "incident" last week whilst pushing a car, was a bit stubborn up a little rise so gave a real heave with my left leg and felt like something tapped me on the back of the leg, I looked around expecting to see something, however then the pain alerted me to something much worse! jeez the pain was excruciating and quickly got off my feet, sitting for a moment I still could not work out what had hit the back of my leg?

So that was me stuffed, ice pack and leg elevated to reduce any swelling, do not do doctors or hospital, daft I know but most things I just get on with and they get better eventually, but 5 days on and a box of painkillers its still not right, I can walk on it better now the first two days were hell.

Have read on a few medical sites the exact feeling of a tap on the back of the leg is the calf muscle ripping (yuk!!!) same medical sites are suggesting anything between 2 and 6 weeks for full recovery!!

What I cannot fathom is why it happened, I have been in the same scenario scores of time pushing cars vans all sorts never had this???

get medical help otherwise you could make it worse, if it doesnt heal correctly then it could make it a very bad situation

or go see a private sorts physio if it makes you feel better but dont dont just leave it, i did it with a shoulder injury years ago and its never been right and to late to repair, i cant do certain lifts now which caused me to pack the gym in

I had exactly the same thing when I was working in Thurrock !

Had a bit of a tight muscle in my leg for a number of days and massaged it in the shower to try and loosen and soften it

Anyway, Parked the car in the multi story, Top floor on top of Grays shopping centre, started walking to work WHAM ! I nearly fell flat on my face. I knew I'd torn a muscle Well I limped round to work and then, at going home time I had to get a Taxi to to go into the car park and take me to to the car and pay his exit fee !

Then I drove to Liz's Remember Liz ? Well she took me to hospital and they were worried about a blood clot forming THAT IS THE DANGER I was told

For the rest of that contract I had wear trainers to cushion my leg And you cant wear trainers with a suit so I went to work in Jean's and smart shirt for the duration

Had to go back for three checks on progress To Make certain there wasn't a clot

PLEASE GO TO THE A & E AND GET IT CHECKED for yours and Lynda's sake

"Had a bit of a tight muscle" "massaged it in the shower to try and loosen and soften it"

Sorry for taking the piss considering the injury and pain you went through, but those statements are hilarious!!

Go and get it checked out Jeff. If its been 5 days and still not right then you need to get it looked at. A torn muscle needs complete rest.

Had the same thing last year, ended up on crutches off work for 8 weeks, very painful, rest is the only thing you can do with it, had some very bad bruising with it as well.

At 21 years old, the body starts to rot. Slowly at first, but it really does.

Your over 40 Jeff ? Get it seen too ! I was the same macho hero myself. 52 shortly, and will be in for knee replacement within the next decade.

First thing my Doc asked me after my X-Rays last year was if I had sickness cover on my mortgage ??

Think of your body as a Zed. As it gets older, things **** up. Only thing is, we are not re-buildable ? Been there, get it seen too.
