First off this is not a for sale thread...... although it could turn in to one, if it does i will post in the reverent section...

Right now that the Zed is finished, and with me having the bike and the Mrs with an 08 plate Astra SRI i feel that it maybe time to sell the Zafira.

Now its a decent spec (elegnace, which was top of the range) 2.0 diesel on a 52 plate. 133K on the clock, nothing with it, and just had an MOT. now ive been offered as a swap for a 5 Series iSE its the 2.8 with tiptronic gear box its a 99 on a T plate. full leather and all the toys.

TBH i'd probably just end up selling it on after a few weeks playing in it. but the question is this....

Which, IYO, is more sell-able and worth more cash to me?

I know there a pros and cons for each, The Zafira is a good solid family car. good fuel economy (55MPG on a run) cheap to insure and the bonus of either a massive boot for the kids gear, shopping, dogs and so on. cons... well it looks like a bus lol. not that refined, although comfortable its no BMW lol.

and the BMW... well its a BMW, good build quality all the luxury you'd expect from a big executive car, but the fuel economy is isn't 55MPG it's a tad older and the mileage is a bit higher.. think its on 170K but these engines are good for a load more....

so please.... advise..

My opinion - ditch the Zafira mate.....

Whatever I or anyone else may think about BMWs, I personally hate MPVs with a vengeance!!! So a 5-series of a Zafira? I think you know what I'm going to say. Especially if you do not NEED an MPV (and most people don't - as a decent estate car would serve better)..

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The zafira is 10000000% the more saleable car and will be the easiest to sell without a doubt, 170k is a hell of a lot no matter what make or model the car is. I'd not touch a car over 110k personally.

Here's one for you and I've actually made my choice and bought one today  a 55plate mercedes cls 320cdi with 90000 on the clock and a price of £9995 FSH etc etc and would cost me £1400 a year to insure, or a citreon ds3 + on a 61 plate with 13000 miles and £1000 a year to insure. And is also £9995.... I've made my choice so what would you do

A Diesel people carrier will be far more sell-able than a Large engined petrol Bmw. Everyone wants Diesels these days and a MPV will attract a hell of a lot more buyers.

The 5series is one of the best cars ever made, but has a far more limited market and even then everyone wants the 530D, not the 528i.

Agree with the above. The 5 series may be a better car but the Zafira is much more saleable and will appeal to a greater audience.

The older Zafiras are now pretty worthless though. That's one of the MK1s and you can get them for a song. It might be more sellable, but not sure what price you'll get for it....

I would still ditch the Zafira.....

....But these comments are definitely true - which is why I concede that I'd not do the swap, only to try and sell the BMW a few months later. I'd look at selling the Zafira now and buying something else you prefer - and won't be looking to sell on in a month or two...

Me......? I'd buy the CLS because that's the kind of person I am, sometimes, when it comes to cars......

......But for a sensible, reliable, efficient daily driver; then common sense dictates the DS3. And I see you made the right choice Adam....

If I did the swap for the BMW it would go for about 1400

Either way I'm selling which ever car it is, as I just don't need 3 cars and a bike in the house hold
