Its amazing what you find!

So, I had my coilovers fitted today on the Zed. Anyway, after the garage had fitted them I took the originals home and noticed something on the parts which I hadn't seen when the car had been on the ramps. I thought the car had just standard shocks/springs since they were so rusty...

I noticed some green beneath the rust and after having Teins on my previous Zed, I thought I would investigate...

Ta da! They were Teins after all! And I didn't know this in the slightest!

So, it looks like these could be useful to someone. So, I am thinking a good clean and stripping down might result in usable Teins again. Does anyone think this is a good idea knowing that I have no clue how old these are? Also, any pointers on what to use on these to make them good again?

Cheers,

Greg

Iirc gas filled dampers fail straight away if the seals leak. So as long as the seals look good and the spring is not near breaking then I'd think you just need to give them a clean and a lick of paint and they'd be good to go. Personally I wouldn't try to dismantle the damper side myself, but removing the springs for cleaning and painting would be fine. You'll need some spring compressors to compress the spring so that you can undo the mountings.

I'm sure one of our more knowledgeable members will be able to advise you further.

Awesome when this happens.

When I broke my v8 soarer I discovered a very rare Mines ecu ! (they were VERY rare to be done on the 1uzfe)

Same thing happened the year previous when I broke another soarer, I found another Mines and an ARC SMIC !
