Another Weather warning for Belfast this morning! Heavy winds rain and high tides. We are lucky living on high ground above Belfast but hoping we dont get any wind damage or power cuts.

Be careful out there today and if your driving your zed then stay out of flooded areas

Portishead has a flood warning. I've never known it to flood here though, there was a flash flood in the High Street that flooded 4 or 5 shops about 4 years ago, but nothing that sea/estuarial waters caused. We had a high tide at 7.45 this morning; my house is 5 minutes walk from the sea wall and it was about 10cm from breaching it. Fortunately, the water was dead calm, but I imagine if it were to coincide with a storm surge, the story would be quite a different one. Having said that, we experience the Severn Bore every so often and that never causes any flooding....BUT, the next Severn Bore is due to hit tonight! With a storm surge, river flooding AND the Severn Bore, I wait with car keys in hand! The Z and the Leon will get moved to high ground and I don't care if the Z isn't taxed, it's getting ****ing moved if the seawall gets breached! It is a 3* bore though, so not its full height, so I think it'll be fine here.

For those that don't know, the Severn Estuary has the 2nd or 3rd highest tidal range in the world. The Bore wash or Severn Bore is a natural phenomena caused when a tidal surge forces water up the River Severn. You head about 5 miles north of here, you'll actually get a wave which surfers often ride on right up through the River Severn as far as Gloucester. This gives a tidal range increase of an additional 2-3 meters in places.

Took this earlier. If you look on the coping slabs, you can see where the tide reached at its highest point.

Oh hell, I won't! I am sure it'll be fine, but it makes you think, especially when you see water that high only a hundred yards from your house. I will move it later on if I have to to high ground. High tide is about 8 tonight, so at least it won't come out of nowhere!

I couldn't bare to see this happen! It's sat in the garage right now (as is for this time of the year). I seriously don't think we'll have a problem, but it makes you think!

i had my rear bumper torn off by flood water on the m25 on christmas eve.

how would you move your car Si if its raining

Rain is better than flood! No risk now. Car stays safely locked in the garage. :)

Yeah, there were some pretty deep puddles on the motorway near oldham the other night. My mx5 is off the road at the mo so I was in Zebedee. Was pretty hairy but people were still charging past at silly speeds :-/

Another tidal swell for Monday morning so not out of the woods yet!

I haven't been down to the seafront yet! We're estuarial, so we never get that sort of hell thankfully.
