Hi, hope you've all had a great christmas,

Ive posted this issue before and i just wanna make sure before i buy from MJP im not buying something i dont atually need.

My car leaks from the targas although ive checked drainage and all seems fine its coming in from where the targa roof meets the A pillar and dripping on the bolsters nearest to the doors on both sides. i have replaced the actual roof rubbers which go around the top of the targa and down the door pillar but still doesnt make any difference. I was wondering if the actual targa part has a rubber seal? or is it that i need the actual rubber seal that goes round the top of the door? and down the A pillar? im hoping that i just have to replace the seal where it runns along the top of the window which is the targa? lol confusing or what

Can you tell if it is coming through where the door glass makes contact with seal?

The reason I ask is, the door glass may need adjusting so as to make a better contact between the two. (guide rollers are prone to wear.)

IE more pressure between the glass and the seal.

They all pretty much leak from there if you have a leak, after checking all my rubbers, i discovered as above post that the window needs adjusting to make a tighter fit on to the rubber. My N/A has always leaked and still does, my UK tt does not leak and when i compare the two, i can see the rubber at the top of the glass on the UK protruding over the rim of the top of the glass and my N/A does not, so adjust window and it should solve the issue.

New seals won't always fix a leak - I thought that and still have a leak.

Have a look in the online manual, there's a page that shows all the adjustments you can make to the window ;)

Ive found like so many others that on these cars that if you touch something or rather disturb something something goes wrong of plays up. 90% of cars that come back from the paintshop after a respray leak if its that time of year. mine never leaked before it went to paint then once fitted up leaked. loads of people saying buy a silicon to squirt eveywere. why never leaked before so why do i need it now. i must of reseated and cleaned it out 3 to 4 times now dosnt leak. just be pacent and carfulley reseat the rubber. the secret is to make sure that its all super clean, and use non silicon things to clean the rubber and paint or contact surface. let the rubber do the job its designed to do. then once you know it dosent leak then you can spray your waxy silicon products everywere..

Just to clarify you need to adjust the window in tighter so it hits under the rubber and not up over the rubber on the seal.

Leeroy, do what Groover and Vijay have said and look in the link the "window guide rail adjustment" allows for two way adjustment, one form side to side and the other moves the window in or out.

if you do a search on Jefftt posts he also has a post on how to seal the top of the rubber near that edge and the drain plug, this is also a main point of water getting in to the top of the window seal.

there are also rubber cleaning products that make it more supple and help to stop water leaks by allowing the window to seal to the glass better.. look on ebay or do a search on here.

ok, leak fixed. i removed the targa panel. and where the rubber corner section is which sits just by the A pillar and drainage hole,i unscrewed the screw which goes into the A plillar top end and stuck some black roof gutter sealant under the rubber. leak now fixed!

Next issue. stuck some fuel in and took her for a quick spin. my boost controller is set to low and about half way on the tuning dial. i dont usually mess with this but i turned it up a notch or two. was running ok and then it went all lumpy ( while driving) turned it back down and parked up with engine running. the lumpyness went so i just left it for a bit and then it came back. i replaced the fuel filter about 4 months ago and the plugs and had all the vac hoses replaced. i also check the coil packs where fixed as sometimes they become loose. any idea's what this could be? could it be bad fuel? i always try to use V power or something similar but on this occasion i used high octane which is only around 97-98 i believe.

What was the weather like?

If the rain was bad, you may have got the connector to the MAF, or the MAF itself wet.
