My first question to you would be about the state of the rest of the engine mate....

....If it's done a big mileage, then it's not worth replacing the shells when you might have to replace pistons/rings/top end components in a another thousand miles or so! For me it would be a false economy.

Best place to buy is probably Mike at MJP - as for the time and cost of labour, speak to JeffTT or Jimmer. Good luck mate,

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You have pm:)

what no quote, how much then jeff?

The job is not as technical as you might think, dropping the sub frame a little to get the sump off is the biggest parts really, ACL bearings are as good as you need and available in the UK, even via ebay, depending on where you get them from anywhere between £60 and £120, it is worth a good look around to get the best price.

With the sump off you looking at a couple of hours max to remove the rod caps and change the bearings, so a days work in total with the cross member drop and back up.

So you will need:

Bearings

Sump end gaskets

Gasket sealant ( high temp)

Oil filter

Oil

Looking at £350 to £400 in labour + parts

I will add though I am not actually quoting for the work just giving you an idea what it should cost.

Jeff
