The speedo on my 1990 uk man tt has a mind of its own the rev ones fine. The speed will work sometimes then not atall. Sometimes it just bounces around like a nutter not having any kind of pattern to its behaivor. Am i to asume that its a easy fix like a new plug or do i need to buy a soldering iron and take the cluster out .cheers

I'm afraid it's not as simple as either of those..

plenty of posts on it... could be the cluster and connectors or as is common the unit on the gearbox.. they tend to come out..

i`ve had to redo my uk one..ended up having to resolder both sides of the board

Take the bezel off first and inspect the joints. I removed my speedo cluster and simply tightened the screws that was sufficient to fix it. You wouldn't buy a speedo converter from a dealer.

You wouldn't need a converter anyway, being UK clocks-could be speed sensor giving up..............

Been there twice..the speed sensor is the least likely to fail. If you are confident with a solder iron resolder EVERYTHING on the board. I even paid a local electronic shop to have a go and it wasnt until i got brave and did both sides did it work like new again.
