Rallying is cool, its the ultimate skill of driving.

Im probly the only one here who thinks F1 is boring as sh1t They might as well just put a great big groove in the track and a peg in the floor of the car and run them around in a line like a great big scalextrix set LOL

:D

Paul

Paul, I is wiv you man. F1 is just scaletrix for grown ups.

I saw the aussy rally and it was awesome. It makes me think of buying a scooby..ahh..no..jesus..what am i thinking...Zs rule. Peace.

was this Delecoir? his co driver is in a serious way in hospital apparently.. missed the program..

WRC rocks, F1 lost its spark long ago. In fact its shite.

Heres hoping Francois co driver is ok.

0 - 60 in 3 on gravel.. how cool is that;)

yeh your right, the co driver has a broken pelvis, ankle and a bruised lung, so not too back when you see the car!!!

F1 is crap, i gave up watching it a few seasons ago, it just became a presession lap for ferarie, its just boring. touring car racing is fun, was when mansell joined in anyway.

I agree that F1 is a bit predictable, and has been for some time. But it's not Ferrari's fault that they keep winning, it's up to all the other teams to raise their game!

My biggest gripe with F1 is all these rule changes to slow the cars down. It's supposed to be the PREMIER motor racing championship FFS! It should be that ANYTHING GOES, lets bring back slicks and turbo's!

Rally drivers are nutters!:D Love 'em to bits, and at the moment the drivers all have a personality AND an opinion. Wait till a bit more money gets involved and all that will change:( It will be the same as F1 and Moto Gp ----- "I would like to thank my sponsors.....etc. etc."

Bring back the old days where drivers and riders would have punch-ups, slanging matches and then blow up the bogs before leaving the circuit!:D :D

This is a really difficult one. I'm as anti processions as the next bloke but I'm more anti the kinds of weekends which happened in May '94 at Imola.

F1 is not just about top cars, it's also about top drivers. Letting anything go will mean that the ranking of the cars is driven by budget and that doesn't make for good racing.

How about this for an idea ... there's a one hour GP race based on qualifying and run the same as the others. This gives 60% of the points for the weekend.

For the remaining 40% of the points. There's a half hour 'sprint' race with a reversed grid. Points are added and removed based on the number of places gained or lost in that race. Every passing manouver gains a point for the one overtaking and loses one for the one being overtaken.

No points for passes involving team mates.

Just an off the top of my head idea !

Yup, sounds a good solution. But I'd still like to see the cars getting a bit more mental. How about getting rid of on-board adjustable telemetry, TC and all that expensive jazz. Use the current engine size (3.5L?) use slicks (PROPER race tyres) and bung on the turbos! (I seem to remember them getting about 1000bhp from the 1.5L !)

Allow them to use side skirts for down force (Lotus idea?) and that's about it. Sounds to me like a recepie for some balls out hooligan action, and lots of spins and crashes (which is what most of us want to see anyway) Lets face it, most of the drivers we respect and admire most, used cars which were terrifying to drive. The skill came from taming them!

Yeah, I'd definitely agree with removing driver aids. And I think those turbo 1.5 litres used to get well over 1000 bhp in qualifying setup.

Personally I don't watch it for spins & crashes. Give me close racing with no crashes any day.

I'd be less keen on reintroducing ground effect (or active suspension) due to the dangers involved in it when it stops working (e.g. hit a piece of gravel which lifts you 3 mm, lose your vacuum from underneath the car and then 'go Mercedes').

But I do think that a lot more can be done for the spectator by changing the format / scoring of the competition. How about scoring every position ? If someone is 10th and it's 15 mins to go, they're better off taking it easy and ensuring their sponsors get their full race time then trying to overtake 9th.

All i know is MOTO GP is about the best formula of anything period. and next year that is going to improve leaps and bounds.

Secondly anyone who actually goes to an F1 track and watches and hears it and then says its boring or crap, might aswell be dead, because its an awesome site.

if you look at Rallying this year, one person dominated it.Boring-? i think so. But very exciting to watch.

If you look at Moto GP one person dominated it.Broing - ? yes

But to watch Rossi backing a bike into a corner with the rear wheel overtaking the front is very exciting.

So f1 - one person dominates it and its boring because they arnt English?

Sato going around 130R at 190mph with opposite lock on is pure heroism.

I disagree, this year has been pretty good.

No one complained when Mclaren dominated the sport or when Williams did so?

I personally watch most motorsport because i enjoy so many aspects of it.

Watching an F1 car on a track is one of the most exciting things you can do.

Watching it on Telly on the other hand is one of the best ways of falling asleep on a Sunday :D

They do need to buck up the act a bit.

I agree with Warren its completly different if you are there. But with F1, we have has years where 1 person dominates, fine but then we conserntrate on the other positions. However with F1 now, there is hardly any action in the other positions too, because of all the carrying heavier fuel loads. 10 years ago. 22 cars all full with petrol all battling. Now some have 1/3 tank, some have 1/2 a tank, some have a full tank. So the lighter ones shoot off while the ones with heavier loads take the attitude slow and steady wins the race. The pootle along going a second a lap slower but they only stop once and save time there. Yawn. How boring. F1 is not about slow and steady wins the race.

However other forms of racing there are no refuling so all the cars start on a level playing field. Yes Rally refuel but the all have about the same amount of petrol to last the stages before they get back to the service area to refuel.

When the Toca decided the had to make a pit stop. What is all that about?

Any way back to what I was gonna say.

Any one going the Rally in a few weeks?

Stuart

Making formula one more interesting is easy - REV LIMIT!!!! Most of the engines blow due to the stresses placed on them - by the ever increasing revs. Extra power is obtained by upping the revs. Placing a limit on the revs would have a double effect - firstly the power levels would be the same for all teams, and secondly, the engines would be more reliable. Also, with less money being spent on making the engines rev higher, more of their budget could be spent on certain canadian drivers.. I mean suspension and chassis design... lol

CheerZ,

Andy

Naaaah, if ya start limiting things you might as well run a one make series - Micra Cup anyone?

The thing to make it REALLY interesting would be the introduction of heavy calibre weaponry! Mount a couple of .50 cals either side of the driver, and mine layers on the back! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!
