Well I must be missing a trick here.

How the hell are you supposed to remove the passenger headlight without taking the whole car apart??

Driving me mad!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As it stands at the moment, I can't see anyway around dropping the recirculation valve just to get access to the last bolt.

Is there an easier way?

Talk about frustrating or what.

I can sympathise, they are a right pain in the butt to get at..

I used a very small ratchet spanner and hours of micro turns to get mine off. Not a job I enjoy doing. Hopefully someone will have a nice easy solution.. But I wouldn't hold my breath on that one mate.

LOL.. just another standard Zed job.... there isn't much that's easy on these cars... :)

is this any good to you..

That, replacing the driver side steering rack bush (engine in and on axle stands) and getting at that bloody bolt at the back of the AC condenser are the worst jobs in the world..lol

You mean to say that there are jobs worse than this!! more Arrrrgggghhhhh lol

when you put the nightmare bolts back, put a slot in them so if there's a next time, you can use a screwdriver from above ;)

LOL just done the same job myself. you really need to remove the pipe to access it without strangling the wife.Hint is when you refit do not put the "above pipe" bolts back in for future removel as 3 bolts hold the light securely enough.

Great tip and what I did on mine, smother with grease as well.

I also make use of the hands of the wife, big man fingers are a no no :surrender:.

Guys, thanks for the help!

Believe it of not, I got the bl@@dy thing off. (Without strangling the wife as well!) Lol

My intention is to split the lights and polish/clean everything.

Does anyone know where I can source the correct sealant?

If your careful mate you shouldn't need any. The sealant is heated then prized apart. To reseal just reheat it and press together :)

as has been said you don't need any more sealant.. just make sure you take it all of the lens and put it back in the slot in the unit.

it's easier to move it when warmed up, also make sure you distribute it around evenly (in the slot) so it seals properly again.

also be aware that there is (are) moisture absorbent tablets in the units, these seem to be covered my a type of foam.

The foam gets old and falls part, if its brittle make sure you remove it but put the tablets back in.

Haha MM, I had to read that a few times....tables !!!!

You mean tablets !!!!!!

By all means pop back in but I'd get some new silica gel sachets and use these instead or as well, not sure on the potency of the old tablets after all these years .

Some really helpful links and advice guys. Cheers.

Thought I would clean things up a bit ready for when I put the lamp back.

Does anyone know where I can get the foam inserts from, the ones that are glued in behind the lamp.

Mine have perished somewhat.

Thought I would take a look at the connections while I had everything in pieces.

I was shocked at the degree of corrosion, to say the least.

Decided to apply a bit of chemistry to get rid of the green build up.

Using a small kids paint brush, I applied white vinegar to the male and female connections.

As this is an acid, I anticipated it dissolving the corrosion.

I must say, the results were better than anticipated.

Made some more progress today.

Managed to get the left hand headlight stripped down, even separated the lens from the casing!! well chuffed.

Now here comes the questions.

As you can see, the main beam chromed reflector is somewhat crazed, It seems solid enough but would like to correct it. What are my options?

Also, I have noticed a lot off grime on the reflector behind the projector lens, is this easy enough to get at by removing it from the casing?

I have not cleaned this type of chromed plastic before, so any advice would be appreciated.

I might have a spare for that lens... and also the metal strip.... bad news is I can't have a look until next year !!!

well next week.. :) ... Thursday.. I know I've got a spare but can't remember what side.

If you can't fix it or get a replacement from anyone else PM me mid-week to remind me..
