Couldn't say if you need it or not, i'll leave that to the experts. One thing that is very useful with divorced downpipes is if a turbo starts blowing you can easily tell which side it is by the exhaust. Can't do this so easily when you have a join in the centre section.

Some systems do not have the x or H pipe, my Mongoose for eg is straight through to the decat pipe.

Mine was too. My Japspeed one has an H pipe though. The engine not on the JS is different than the mongoose was but since I haven't driven the car anywhere I can't say if I've noticed any other difference..lol

When i had the Japspeed cat back mine was fairly raspy when giving it some beans, where i find the Mongoose more refined on an NA, i guess different again on a TT

Its been covered a couple of times before on here, quick search should pull up some detail. Basically there is thinking that X-Pipe has slight power benefit due to the alternate back pressure pulses, google will bring up the science.

I run a Greg Dupree X-Pipe, with Resonators. Main thing is, sound is fantastic.

hmm the H pipe section is to induce a smoother running engine . as to equalize the Exhaust ram pressure of each side off the exhaust system, its not needed and possible reduces the back pressure slightly, for pure performance a none H section exhaust would be better. my opinion, and hope it helps

its a wide boy baby
