Well, Christmas is almost upon us (I can hear the moans from here), and once it's over thoughts start to turn to the 2014 show season.

For those that like to book their holidays well in advance, LakeZ 2014 will be taking place Friday 27th June - Sunday 29th June

Last year saw a big change to the format, and one that we feel worked well.

So continuing with that, the 4th LakeZ meet will once again be completely free for those attending (Petrol and Beer not included!).

The venue once again will be Cark-in-Cartmel, with the town hall serving as car parking and camping facility, and the Rose and Crown being the focus of socialising.

Friday will be meet and greet with entertainment in the pub (Currently planning on an acoustic set by a decent local musician).

On Saturday there will be a drive out organised.

There is again the option of taking the Steam Train and steamer around the lake, a nice chilled option.

Skydiving can be arranged for those persons with a twisted sense of adventure. Anyone wanting to skydive please let me know early so I can get it booked up, they get very busy.

Saturday night we will be in the Town Hall.

There will be a BBQ put on by a caterer, and special entertainment in the form of a Pink Floyd tribute band and then MIDGE URE!!

The Rose and Crown will be providing the beer for Saturday. It will be to the same high standard but this time we have come up with a slight change which will keep the prices even lower. Instead of draught beer they will be selling bottled beer. This enables them to sell a pint for about 30% less and give a lot wider range of options.

The pub will also be selling breakfast each day.

Sunday will be the show and shine judging.

If anyone wants to do anything else, go karting, horse riding, fishing, pretty much anything really then let me know and I will see what I can do.

Camping will again be FREE, entry on the saturday night will be FREE,. All I ask is that you support the raffle to save me having to sell organs.

I will be posting up more info as things are confirmed. In the meantime if you have any questions please ask.

There is a massive range of accommodation locally including several rental houses which work out very cheap if you can get a group together.

This is a social weekend so turn up in whatever vehicle you like. There is also a train station about 300m away.

To see what attractions are nearby this is the pub we are based at, just use the postcode and google local attractions. :)

Update for you.

Due to the complexity and cost of organising such a large headline act (you would not believe the cost of lighting technicians!) the free Hog roast has had to be dropped.

In general this costs around £700 each time, and we simply don't have the funds to pay for it this year.

Instead there will be a BBQ put on by the Rose and Crown, and whilst you will be charged for burgers etc, I will endeavour to keep it down to cost price.

Sorry for this, but unless anyone wants to throw £700 of sponsorship my way then it's the way it has to be.

Update on LakeZ 2014.

The use of a village hall and it's grounds 2.2 miles away has been negotiated for camping use.

Due to the increased interest in LakeZ this year, camping in the usual spot in Cark is tight.

We'll be looking for volunteers to move campsites closer to the time. There is a charge with the new campsite, but it includes electricity hookup and toilets/showers.

We're looking into the arrangement of transport to and from that campsite to Cark.

Question: can you bring dogs to this...?

If so, would my dog be able to watch Midge Ure...??

Dogs welcome.

Yay!

Don't think dogs are allowed in the town hall.

Boo!! He's a massive Midge fan... :(

Random update:

Anyone who plans on camping, there is no need to bring your own tables/chairs as we have arranged the hire of tables/chairs for outside use.

On the Sat evening, Midge Ure will perform a 75 minute acoustic set, and will be followed by Pink As Flloyd.

Anyone with seriously low cars, please PM me and I will give you alternative directions to what SatNavs recommend as you need to avoid driving through speed hump hell that is Grange-over-sands.

Tired retard alert****

Are you all staying in the same hotel (apart from the campers) Mrs says she wants a hotel so I thought I'd ask before saying we will come. Or is it a case of booking one that's close to the place itself?

It's all B&Vs in cark. You will need to phone around as many of them are booked up.

If I get chance today I'll see if I can dig out the list I have of places to stay

Not long now folks.

A few quick points:

1. Can all people camping at the Village Hall, be sure to pitch your tents AT THE BACK of the wee field. There is going to be a row of cars at the front of the field. It will also ensure we can fit all the campers on.

2. No cars other that "Z's" will be allowed to remain at the Village Hall (exceptions will be foe the Band and their staff).

3. There will be wrist bands given out to see Midge. Make sure you find me or Martin to get one.

4. Sat BBQ will be a small fee.

5. If you are one of those who don't plan on using their car for the weekend once they arrive, please let me know as it means I can block you in and fit more cars into the car park easier.

6. If you plan on eating at the Rose and Crown on Friday or Saturday then please call up in the next few days and book a table.

7. Sat and Sunday morning there will be a buffet style breakfast at the Rose and Crown (NOT FREE).

8. If you car has a clearance of less than 5 inches, then please PM me. You will need my phone number so that when you arrive I can have some planks ready to help you over the small speed bump.

9. Bring waterproofs! It's the Lake District, and it's LakeZ = it will rain. ;)
