I thought I'd get my self an old P38 for the winter seeing as its meant to bad snow etc this year and for a laugh as I have always wanted one. Turns out the insurance isn't even expensive these days as I'm getting older!

A 4.6 HSE on a 99 T plate in quite an unusual colour!

She arrives on Friday! (hopefully...!)

Still got the M5! But yes certainly better than the M5 in the bad weather. Push comes to shove I'll make another coffee table!

Yes my e34 just spins the rear wheels and goes nowhere if it sees snow lol

Does your E34 have any form of traction control? I must admit I hit a large patch of standing water I hadn't seen in a dip the other night in the M5 and the electronics just sorted it all out. Amazingly clever for a fairly old car!

Not really my thing, but it looks clean and I love that teal colour.

I didn't think it would be your cup of tea haha :)

It is a nice colour though and quite unusual I think, I've never even seen it so will see how good the pictures make it look! Its now arriving tomorrow although I'm at a track day so still won't get to see it until Saturday.

It was an option would you believe from I think the 94 model year, and perhaps only on the V8's but I'm not sure. I do like the E34 a very handsome car!

Looks like its never been off road in its life!

That sounds good to me ;) I'll make sure I break her cherry.... Although no idea if the low range or diff lock works!

I had the same model to do me last winter and got rid of it a few months ago - I was averaging 9.9 mpg - tread lightly with that right foot!

get ready for dropped liners resulting in head gasket going...doors that wont lock...air springs that wont pump up or down...electric seats stopped working (ecu controled)...single figures MPG. Apart from all that and more there a great ride Chris and do the 4x4 thing without a fuss and amazingly:thumbup1:

Thanks guys! Sorry been a bit busy these last couple of days!

So far its been brilliant, although I have only done about 10 miles!

Great cars but not very dependable at all I am afraid as I have owned the P38 and now the classic...they do not like this time of year!

LOL - which, ironically, is when you need it the most!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ive got to say not a single thing went wrong with the one I had. There was a stamp on the engine saying genuine landrover replacement unit and the hydraulics for the suspension all looked suspiciously clean so I think a previous owner must have taken care of the niggles before it came to me...all I had to do was keep stopping at the petrol station

The idea of using it for winter is a thinly veiled excuse.... Or justification for it.

To be honest I just fancied rocking round in a rangerover and saving the M5 from the salt for a few months! I have to say its considerably faster than I expected it to be the engine runs as sweet as anything with the later engine electronics.

However - air suspension already being a total PITA so will need to investigate that when I get home. I've priced up spring conversion kits... and replacement bits haha. It might just be user error (as was the "faulty" tailgate which firmly lay with me being a bit stupid...)

Next job will be a run through in the bodyshop to sort some rattles, trim and clicking check straps and a machine polish.

If you touch the brake pedal while the suspension is moving it will stop what its doing. Test it just sitting stationary with no feet on pedals with someone outside to check all round.

The lowest setting is just for loading and will move itself higher if you drive off with it like that.

The next one up is motorway setting - it selects this itself when doing over 50 or something but you can manually select it if you use the overwrite button next to the one with arrows.

The other two settings you should be able to select and drive in without any issues or interference as long as all is working well.

Thanks mate yeah I've been having a read up. I don't think there is much wrong with it as the guy who delivered it told me it was perfect and he was a self confessed rangerover addict. And it was fine when I drove it on Friday. Worst case will be compressor seals I think.

These days though the bits are so cheap it's worth fixing them!

Nice Chris, it's crying out for privacy glass ...and loose those freelander alloys ....they are so Fiat X19 ....some nice 6 smokers on it witha dished rim would be cooooool

I quite like the wheels! Will see idea isn't to spend loads of money on it lol. They are triple sports and an option I think as they are 18' to big for gaylander!

Ill see what comes up. Drives well though! Back from Georgia tomorrow FCk me I can't wait to have proper food proper tv a proper bed and not be subjected to mental Georgian driving habits!

Yeah they are a nice wheel, not as expensive as I though considering everyone wants them! lol
