Was out today at was getting a vibration at 40... assume this is the center prop bearing.. :(

I have full work shop facilities, is this something i can do myself or best left to the pro's?

Can it be left for a while or does it need sorting straight away? (only doing short runs at the moment, to and from the body shop about 2 miles each way)

Mine needed a new prop for about a year, was fine doing short runs. I'd recommend a one piece prop. Prop shafts are easy to change, if I can do it then anyone can.

A thread from a few years back, price is still the same.

Due to increased enquiries, we are now making available the one piece propshafts we normally fit when undertaking manual conversions.

So we can supply a newly fabricated single piece propshaft for both the TT and N/A auto or manual for £225 + vat this with your prop in part exchange.

The new units are fully balanced and are super smooth in operation, no more center bearing issues to worry about and at a cost similar if not less expensive than having a new bearing fitted.

All of the work is done by our own fabricator so no waiting for delivery from the US and no import duty, and fully warranted.

What they made of Jeff? are they the same sort of weight as the normal prop?

(unsure if it needs to be thicker/heavier due to being a 1 piece)

Also whats the turn around time?

They are steel but still the weight is substantially less than original unit, turn around can be a week or so at worse or a few days depending on when our next batch is been dropped off for conversion.

Is that price just for supply or is that fitted?

Neil

Supply only, would be giving them away if not

Is it an easy job? undo the bolts drop the old one out put the new one in and do up the bolts? or is there a little more to it than that?

Exhaust normally needs dropping down or at least the rear section after the cats, remove heat shield, undo the prop and remove, undo but not remove totally the prop front bolts to lower the it down slightly to allow the new one piece to fit, and then tighten up and refit exhaust etc.

1 hour max on a 2 post ramp.

Yes there is a postage charge that reflects that, we send you one out and collect your old one.

So whats the total cost then Jeff?

would it be easier to send you the old one when the news ones fitted or has the courier got to take it with them?

The courier comes twice, once to drop off the new one and then when your ready they will collect the old one.

So £225 + vat for the prop and £35 for the two way drop and collection service.

Hope that helps.

@Darkside - I assume you are already convinced, but if not then I should mention I also had one of these one piece props fitted by Jeff to my LWB TT and the difference it makes is very impressive.... much smoother than my old one

TBH it's a no brainier.

It's a lot easier to replace the prop for a single rather than fit a bearing, about the same in price (with fitting) and a single piece is a lot better.

So yep.. I'm pretty convinced lol
