After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision.

As before I just have the rolling shell.

Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box.

He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine.

Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine.

The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!!

The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter and the TwinZ rear bumper.

I already obtained a good used 99 spec from Mikey Bean and I have a new Twinz rear from Mark Derbys group buy.

I will get a new sheet of ally and make another front splitter. good job I kept the template!!

There are numerous detail improvements on the schedule too. More details to follow!

Probably the most important/significant is a new custom loom for the car. Over the development period of the car numerous items have been added by several people. The result now is a total mess of wiring everywhere with no one personknowing exavtly what is joined to what!!!

This winter I am lucky that our new race day team member Paul is helping at my place with all the work.

Im simply getting too old for some of the harder physical jobs needed.

In addition the newly formed Bodymech team of "Boldy" and "Manta V8" are doing the panel fitting and giving the whole shell a fresh coat of paint inside and out.

so Im sure everyone will be adding to the thread as they get their quota of jobs done.

So a few pics meantime and can you spot the brake problem???

I have also highlighted some fittings that need "improving"

Check out the rats nest of wiring too!!

Slow but sure have been seriously held up awaiting parts but now they're all in the UK and things are taking shape. Here are a few photos showing some of the work taking place. Engine being finished by Jimmer and he has lent me a dummy engine so Dan can use it to cut and shut for the turbo install. Look how clean and simple the wiring is looking. The target is less than 1200kg and more than 900bhp should be fun!!!

That's a five speed PPG helicol cut dogbox. It really held me back last season but hopefully we have ironed out the wrinkles and this year it will prove to be a winner. TOTB anyone????

Wow 1200kgs or less that's going to make a huge difference. Not forgetting those small turbos as well:thumbup1:

Good to see updates, been following progress on the AME page. Glad the tubs finally turned up!

You're keeping a bit tight-lipped James, c'mon spill the beans what you up to?

Just an update on progress. I picked up the engine from Jimmer on Friday and it is now at Advanced Motorsport Engineering. Current programme we hope to be on the rolling road in about 4 weeks with first testing a couple of weeks later. It is a long and slow process not helped by various suppliers being very slow! However this was always going to be a major rebuild and I expected some issues along the way. Most of the rebuild has been shared on the following Facebook page and I expect AME to share there as we progress. I will try to update here from time to time too

Jimmer has done a great job on the engine and will continue to liaise with AME over the coming few weeks. We need to do some welding to the chassis rails but by end next week the engine might be sat in the car with two rather large GTX3071R turbos nestling in there :-)

Ten of the best being my main focus this year I will be hoping for a committed team of zeds to join a team. I admit I am selfishly looking for the extra five points that brings but if we have any chance of competing then we have to do it on level terms. Just finishing all three events at TOTB is tough but getting points is another level altogether.

It's obvious your putting a lot of time and money into getting your race car the way you want it Bob and you are looking to be up there with the best. Great respect for all you have done and looking forward to see it finnished and passing cars on the track. Good luck.

A couple of photos to share. One shows the turbos fitted to the dummy engine (thanks Jimmer) which we used while the race engine was being built and helped us to see where the chassis rails needed modifying. We're just cutting into the right side (see photo) the left just needed a couple of taps with a large hammer. Then a photo of the race engine and a slightly damaged engine mount which needs replacing. The crash at Cadwell damaged the car from front to back and we're still finding things but hopefully from now all plain sailing :)

With a bit of luck in three weeeks will see it on the rolling road and first test run. Maybe a little video will be on it's way :)
