After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision.

As before I just have the rolling shell.

Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box.

He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine.

Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine.

The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!!

The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter and the TwinZ rear bumper.

I already obtained a good used 99 spec from Mikey Bean and I have a new Twinz rear from Mark Derbys group buy.

I will get a new sheet of ally and make another front splitter. good job I kept the template!!

There are numerous detail improvements on the schedule too. More details to follow!

Probably the most important/significant is a new custom loom for the car. Over the development period of the car numerous items have been added by several people. The result now is a total mess of wiring everywhere with no one personknowing exavtly what is joined to what!!!

This winter I am lucky that our new race day team member Paul is helping at my place with all the work.

Im simply getting too old for some of the harder physical jobs needed.

In addition the newly formed Bodymech team of "Boldy" and "Manta V8" are doing the panel fitting and giving the whole shell a fresh coat of paint inside and out.

so Im sure everyone will be adding to the thread as they get their quota of jobs done.

So a few pics meantime and can you spot the brake problem???

I have also highlighted some fittings that need "improving"

Check out the rats nest of wiring too!!

So another steady day of progress..

i got the new rear polycarbonate screen in place for a trial fit and drilled all the holes for the securing screws. This is always a nerve racking little job as its easy to crack the polycarb.

As Paul wasnt available today I summoned Danny my daughters partner to assist with lowering the polycarb on to a nice thick bead of Sikaflex marine grade. There is no room for error here ... you only get one chance to lower it in to place. First it has to be tucked up inside the top trim strip then lowered evenly on to the Sikaflex

It all went well .

We then carefully nipped up the securing bolts n nuts to keep a little pressure on the polycarb while it cures.

I will probably need to leave some heat on overnite to keep the temp at a level where it will bond properly

lastly I re made one of the rear wing securing stays so it bolts on the little securing mounts that Bodymech fabricated and fitted for me.

Paul is booked in for tomorrow so we can move to the front of the car..............................

A couple of pics......................

Nice steady progress, why the need for the extra wing stays, has it tried to go walkies?

The rear hatch is very flexible. So the little stays just keep the spoiler from moving too much.

Are they neccessary??? Well who knows.

Its the same with the polycarb window ... do you need Sikaflex and screws???

Belt n braces approach I suppose .

Im in a "lets just get this done" mode now and I can see it taking shape nicely.

There must be less to do as there are less boxes of bits lying around.

Great work as always Pete. I, as I'm sure others do, appreciate you taking the time to regularly update this thread. As said before, its a credit to all involved.

Thanks Dave.

i know there is a little band of "followers" and you are one of them.

Its always good to get tricky jobs like fitting the polycarb out of the way without incident..

Tomorrow will be another day of general graft and progress and with Paul around we will get double the work done.

Its always good to get tricky jobs like fitting the polycarb out of the way without incident..

and today the rear quarter window proved quite tricky.

Paul and me had to resort to some "thermo forming"....{ hot air gun on polycarb} to get the lh rear quarter to fit nicely.

However its all in and sealed now.

Paul took the front coilovers off and evened out the settings. swapped the discs on to the correct sides and turned the LH top arm round the correct way. One locking nut was very loose. Nothing is loose now.

The last bit of custom thinking and fabricating centered on the new light weight Spa mirrors. The previous ones were difficult to adjust and stay tight in one place. These ones lock in place from the back inside the door which involved a bit of extra hole drilling.

Im confident of the solution. Its all hidden by a black ally plate carried over from the previous install..

So all the tricky stuff is complete on the LH side. I just need to repeat the three installs on the RHS.

Few pics of the progress.....................

So love the bolt on arches!

That looks brilliant Pete, good work!

Great job, really coming together now

Thanks guys... it is all coming together nicely I think.

I now have all the RH side windows mirror and spoiler stay in place.

but I seem to have lost the ability to add images to the thread tonite????

So another long session today from Paul and me sees the car 95% done for our part at the moment.

We have re fitted the oil cooler

Fitted some nice powder coated alloy mesh to the bumper.

And for most of the day made and fitted the front splitter and installed the stays.

The car sits high at the moment without any engine and box fitted.

It will drop a bit when thats fitted.

Then we can lower the front suspension to race height.

Todays pics and one from during the week of the final fit of mirrors and Lexan.......

enjoy.........................................

The splitter/engine under tray looks very racy guys. :thumbup1: Are you and Paul putting the engine and box back in Pete?

No we dont do technichal!!!:whistling:

Its off soon to have an extension to the weld in cage then back to Jimmer for the engine I think

Hi mate, I was wondering where can you obtain the lexan windows and rear polycarbonate screen from?

Picked the car up from Pete today and wanted to say a big public thank you for his and Paul's work. They have done a fantastic job and along with Bodymech's fine work have given me a motor to be proud of. If the rest can match the quality of what we have so far then I'm going to have a serious motorsport contender! There is still a lot of work to do just to get the car rolling but with a bit of luck testing can commence sometime April or May. I'm afraid there won't be a lot to show for a whle but once we get testing I've no doubt Pete will post some pix up. Perhaps one of him shatting himself as we miss the braking point at Hanger Straight who knows :)

That's great news Bob, looking forward to the pics and the best of luck to you :thumbup1:

Hi Bob, this is ian from Southampton, you might remember me :tt2:

Your car is looking freaking awesome, that's some serious work on display right there - it certainly looks like it means business!

And of course everyone knows white is the best non-colour!

Don't forget to add some stickers, as we all know each one is worth 10hp. At least.

Well as Bob was coming up the motorway on this fine sunny day I was busy getting his car and boxes of parts ready for loading.

When he arrived we set to and loaded.

He was soon on his way as I bade a fond farewell to this latest phase of the story.

Enjoy the pics.....................
