After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision.

As before I just have the rolling shell.

Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box.

He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine.

Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine.

The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!!

The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter and the TwinZ rear bumper.

I already obtained a good used 99 spec from Mikey Bean and I have a new Twinz rear from Mark Derbys group buy.

I will get a new sheet of ally and make another front splitter. good job I kept the template!!

There are numerous detail improvements on the schedule too. More details to follow!

Probably the most important/significant is a new custom loom for the car. Over the development period of the car numerous items have been added by several people. The result now is a total mess of wiring everywhere with no one personknowing exavtly what is joined to what!!!

This winter I am lucky that our new race day team member Paul is helping at my place with all the work.

Im simply getting too old for some of the harder physical jobs needed.

In addition the newly formed Bodymech team of "Boldy" and "Manta V8" are doing the panel fitting and giving the whole shell a fresh coat of paint inside and out.

so Im sure everyone will be adding to the thread as they get their quota of jobs done.

So a few pics meantime and can you spot the brake problem???

I have also highlighted some fittings that need "improving"

Check out the rats nest of wiring too!!

I made an emergency trip to the bodyshop today with some much needed bumper brackets.

I nearly caught Darren working!! LOL!!

Work is progressing well.

There is a huge amount of remedial work needed to get the car back in shape.

Most of the work is not visible but a quick inspection today reassures me that the end result is going to be really good.

The boys have spent a day re pulling the front end to get the front suspension back within acceptable tolerances. I can see the difference without measuring it!!! It was over 10mm out before.

So no more wheels going back on to bodywork on tight LH bends!

They had to replace the LHS front tension rod bracket as it was kinked.

So thanks to Mark Derby for that.

Im liking the custom brackets to secure the rear spoiler stays.

We will be able to remove and refit the spoiler quickly now and have it back in the same place every time.

Enjoy the pics...................................

The thing i havn,t told all of you is i,m a huge supporter of " care in the community " as you can clearly see !!

A bit of catching up .

N/s quarter done

bobgenie 032.jpg

Had to pull the front xmember as it was the main point of impact which in turn had kinked the leg where the tension rod bracket mounted , most of the straightening had been done earlier in the year but a few bits needed tweeking , also the inner wing needed to be pulled to lift it about 10mm .

Darren,s been fettling the headlight trying to get them to fit but they,re a bit of a poor fit as Pete will testify to !! They look better than in this piccy now though :scared:

bobgenie 033.jpg

At the back Bob needed another 20mm width for a wider track but the tyres were catching the already rolled arches now under certain loads so we agreed to cut the arches back and fit fibreglass arches .

After cutting the lip of the arch off i cut a new edge higher up and removed the outer quarter panel section , notched the inners and dressed them up to the new edge and welded them .

Trial fitted the arches which we new were to narrow for the zed arch , you can see the ends curve in too much

bobgenie 058.jpg

So slits were cut in them so they could be widened to fit the zed arch , just need to glass them up now so they,re a snug bolt on fit .

When we fitted the TwinZ rear bumper we found the ends didn,t fit snug and had to be pulled in , being a thick strong bumper it has now cracked in both corners because of the stress !!!

Gonna have to put some relief cuts at the back to allow it to " give" and repair the cracks , anyone come across this with their,s ?

bobgenie 056.jpg

Pete said the first one they fitted was a perfect fit , i just wonder if this and others has been stored incorrectly allowing the sides to splay out a bit ??

No biggy it,ll be sorted

You'll get ''care in the community'' you git!

And yes those lights are made for a fiesta I reckon..........................:ninja:

Could be there mould has moved a little if it hasn't been braced? I've done all that with the arches and it's not fun is it.

Allan & Daz,

I will deffo be with you after Xmas for my wide arch conversion guy,s

Thanks

Chris.

Yeah , it,s a shame really cos after all the reports of these fitting perfect i,m just glad we hadn,t painted it thinking it,ll be a simple bolt on job .

I quite enjoyed doing the wheel arches , i must have a twisted streak ! lol
