Hi been searching ebay for some 100 watt H1's as my 55 watt ones are crap searched all over ebay and all they sell is the single bladed

Type, there are twin ones but the metal surround does not look the same as mine, my bulbs have a square notch

At one end and a half circle at the top so that it sits snuggly into the housing does anyone know of anywhere I can purchase these?

Kind regards

Leeroy

Thats correct H1 have a single blade, the bulb is held in place by a carrier, which is why it looks different, so take out the carrier and unplug the bulb, simples!

Thanks groover I did have a tug at the bulb but must be jammed ill have a go thanks for the input :)

Be careful fitting high wattage bulbs, the cables are not really big enough to carry the extra current of the higher wattage bulbs, this causes volt drop which in turn raises the current load, that causes the bulbs to burn hotter and failure of the bulb and cables can result.

Having said that, the main beam inner lights tend to not be on for long so you should be ok, the above would apply more to the dip beam outer lights, to release the main bulbs you squeeze the two tags in under the holder and pull back, can get a picture if it helps.

Hi Jeff, the bulbs i need are the dip ones, not high beam, as the standard ones are crap can hardly see 10 yards in front. i did have 55 watt HID's fitted but cos the lenses are projection type the output was even worse. what would you suggest as i cant even drive the car at night as the lights are so dim .

If you have fitted in your dips the HID H3 55W then you really shouldn't be having a problem seeing at night.

What colour have you bought.........12,000k !!!!!!

Not being funny but you need to go to specsavers as you shouldn't be having a problem with those .

You need to be checking the alignment against a garage door or similar.

Ok you mean H3C fittment like these....

However if you have tried HID and that did not improve things then your projector lenses must be filthy on the back side, the problem this is two fold one is light blocking of course but the second is light scatter which is worse because it looses focus, also with light scatter the brighter bulbs / HID you go the worse it gets.

The very best thing for you to do is remove the headlights ( not that bad ) dis-assemble them and clean the projector lens rear side and the glass in and out, do rub the reflector on the high beam though as it tends to go worse.

Once all clean and reassembled, line up the projector beams by centering them in the chrome ring around them, and then refit your HID kit, I can tell you you will be amazed by the difference, it will be like having really good modern headlights.

Do be sure to check the cables and connections, not unknown for bad earths to reduce the voltage on the main loom, often easier to fit a relay kit wired back to the battery with larger cables and use the original loom to just switch the relays.

There is an easy way to check if the lenses need cleaning, look into them in the day time and if clean you will see a large upside down image of the bulb, if not and I guess you like hundreds more zed owner will be looking at a very milky cloudy projector lense.

No other way to sort it really, I did a tech on this years ago but cannot find it at the moment.

By looking online, my car as standard has H3C bulbs 55 watt ( groover , do these H3C bulbs still remove from the sockets) as i tried pulling one out and just ended up with a bulb with two broken wires,

does anyone know where i can buy H3C HID bulbs from that will fit correctly into my housing. the HID's i currently have do not fit properly so that maybe the problem with my crap vision. The picture below is what i need for my HID's to work correctly. but only available in the states or china.

When ordering HID units just search for H3 Fittment with 6k colour, ebay is full of them ranging from £15 to £40 depending on the trader and all in the UK, removing the H3C bulb can tricky especially if the alignment is set wrong, there is a wire clip that needs releasing and then the pull drops out.

The only ones i can find are the wrong carrier fittment, pretty much the same as what i have which dont fit, as my picture i posted earlier, they need to be notched, one end a half cirlce, the other a half square, cant find them anywhere apart from the USA

Hi Leeroy, you might be getting confused with which bulb goes where, but t clarify, your dipped beam H3C for Jap and H3 for UK car, main beam is H1, which has he carrier/convertor.

The HID kits: H3 will fit both models as you dont need to do an earth mod as you would if replacing with normal H3C bulb.

H3 has the notch and half circle

thats the bugger! thats what i need, for my dipped beam as its so crap and the HID kit i have obviously are wrong cos they dont fit properly which i bet is causing my bad vision from the lights. where can i buy these bulbs?? i need a pair! and it is for dipped beam, not for high beam.

You can buy just the replacement hid bulbs on ebay and use the existing ballasts as they are standard fitment, just make sure the bulb output matches the ballast capability, ie: if the ballasts have a limit of 35w, then dont buy 55w, however if you have 55w, then you could use either.

I think theres confusion along the line here.

This is my problem, my dipped beam ( lower) are the bulbs i need to replace, as the stock ones are crap, so i bought a HID kit but what i done was bought a H1 kit by mistake, so all i need is a set of H3C bulbs along with the plug part so i can just plug them in, the thing is the only place i can find these are on ebay either usa or china, surely theres somewhere i can buy them in the UK?

thank you all anyway for replying ;)

You dont need H3C if you are going for HID, so get that out of your head now  H3 as Jeff posted and you are sorted

Phew!! got there in the end between us eh?

You will pay more from a UK seller but will not have the wait, I have purchased these to complete a set but I am in no rush so don't mind the 3 weeks they will take to get here, you will notice there is quite a considerable price difference.

In fact if anyone else is reading this, if you then buy separate ballasts, you can get a hid kit for approx £16.00, so 2 of these is required
