Hello guys found myself in a spot of bother, when i brought my zed it only had one key (not an original) so i went online and got myself two new blank keys and went to the local hardware store to get then cut, at this point the guy told me that the keys didn't mach and couldn't be cut. i went of home thinking i had brought the wrong key but from looking at photos online it looks like i have a copy of the valet key.

dose anyone know if a valet key can be cut to normal key?

thanks in advance :D

No it can't hence the name velet key.... It will open the locks but not start the car.

You need proper keys if you want to use it as an everyday key

It's the other way around isn't it? i.e. The valet key will open the locks and start the car but won't unlock the glove box. Valet keys have a dull red fob, the drivers key is either black or Titanium (real, not coloured)

Yes, the cutting is the same for valet and full keys, but the blanks are different

Yes, You can get a master key blank cut from a valet key

The ribs down the key are different, but the edge that gets cut is the same

ianl's right - here are the pics to show what he means http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?150218-Titanium-loveliness-from-Aruba&p=1513221&viewfull=1#post1513221 and I got mine cut at Timpsons without any grief at all. Just as per ArubaDave's advice, tell 'em to use the carbide wheel and not the titanium-coated one. No decent locksmith will have any problem at all. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?173400-Titanium-key/page2
