Regardless, I'm with Trey on this one. Importing is definately the way to go...

By all means, hunt around and see what deals they're all offering. I've found many that are selling 6 or 7k worth of car for the 9 & 10 mark. For that kind of money.... you should be getting something that extra bit special.... (we're talking bhp in the late 3 to early 4 hundreds...and/or more dials than a jet fighter.... so for your budget, a nice tidy motor is still possible.

Sorry to hear about your experince. I bought my Z for £4500 with 130,000 miles and I not had one thing go wrong on it and nothing needs doing on it (Touch Wood)

If you know what's wrong with it and you've done your maths then there is always the option of making the shark a silly offer to take it off his hands and spending all the dosh you've saved on turning it into the car of your dreams. Doing a whole buch of stuff at once can work out cheaper if you plan it right. Might be worth consideration ...
