If you have a genuine no boost issue but the engine running ok then it points to a seized turbo, a leak that large would cause the engine to run rough, you can easily test out if a turbo is spinning or not by removing a throttle pipe one at a time and start the engine and rev it up and feel for boost, a latex glove slipped over the pipe from the intercooler makes it easier it will either blow up or suck in. The one you cannot feel anything will be not spinning and all of the boost from the other working turbo is lost down the seized turbo.

It is running a bit lumpy. I can't hear the turbos spooling.

Boost leak test first off. Sounds like you've left some stuff detached. Does the gauge read 0 perminatly? It should read -9 at idle.

No, not always at 0 but will only raise to 0 when accelerating

Then as jeff said you need to progress into a boost leak test. Turbo function test. If you can hear them spool clearly that's not a good sign, indicates a massive boost leak.

Thanks for all your help but I'm going to cut my losses and stick it on eBay for spares or repairs.

Seriously? Have you even done any diagnosis on it? Tbh mate if you give up that easy a performance car probably isn't for you, a honda civic is probably more practical.

Not everyone is comfy wielding the spanners, the zed can be an intimidating beast to the non mechanical minded. He also might not have the room or tools to do the work.

You do seem to have given up very quickly. Are ther any local members who can come and have a look for you. It seems a shame to throw it away without finding out what's wrong. Yeah, it may be something major, but on the other hand it may be a simple fix

Vodkashots lives in Northampton and has wielded a few spanners in anger  he might be able to pin point the issue at least :thumbup1:

if i hadnt just had a heart attack i'd help you out. i agree you should try vodkashots, this sounds like it could be a very very simple fix if its just something re-assembled wrong or a hose off. and, if the turbos werent working at all, wouldnt the vacuum reading go even lower on throttle, as the engine would create more vacuum?

Are you not living proof that you can teach yourself?

Are you not living proof that you can teach yourself?

Yes, but when I started I had the money, time and wanted to do it. Horses for courses, as they say.

yes but not exactly, its a relationship between engine speed and throttle position.

wide throttle+low speed (high load)= virtually no vacuum

closed throttle+low speed(low load)= small vacuum

closed throttle+high speed (low load/over-run)=high vacuum

etc...

Thanks, its the lack of time and lack of another car that's the problem and not performance cars, the same problems on my old supra or impreza take a fraction of the time to sort. You all might not like this but I regret selling my impreza and getting this, its just getting me down.

That's Zeds for you.

But when they are sorted, WooHoo they're brilliant mate!

I say give it another go, you wont regret it.

That way you will be able to pi@@ all over the afore mentioned motors, lol

any boost leak that big that the car made zero boost would cause the car run like a pig, thats almost 100 per cent a seized turbo as Jeff already said.

It has an intermittent starting problem now also. Just get a buzzing sound sometimes and will turn over but not fire up.

Does it always fire when cold and you have this starting issue when it's warm or hot ?

Not sure what the buzzing is but if you can hear clicking when you crank it means your battery's voltage is low.

It is random, only just started. I'll worry about that later, anyway got it running and tried the latex glove trick and the drivers side inflated but the passenger sucked in. Does this mean the passenger turbo has died then?
