Like a lot of people I removed the original Carbon Canister from the car to improve airflow through the larger aftermarket IC.

However, I wasn't happy with the smell of petrol (not strong but definitely there) that resulted. This was most noticeable when

opening up the garage, especially on a hot day. I felt this could potentially mask a more serious problem with a leak from the fuel

pipework in the engine bay. My solution was to refit a smaller CC from a Skyline GTST relocated to a new position in front the

engine radiator and reconnect all the pipes as before (except the one on the intake pipe from the air filter).

Result, no more petrol smells and no CC behind the IC to disrupt airflow.

Thanks Howard. I’ve ordered a R33 CC from a company called TMS Motorsport off eBay. Looked like the cleanest one I could see.

Joely. I’ve just received my R33 CC. I’m really impressed with the size, it must be at least 1/4 of the size of the 300. I’m a little worried though that it might be damaged as the carbon is falling out the lower hose attachment. Does that sound ok? I’ve put some tape round it for now while I hold onto it before fitting.

Cheers,

Chris.

Just had a reply from the seller who said “They all do that, don’t shake it”. Joely, did yours do this?

That’s what I’ve said. Not knowing how it’s made up inside though I can’t be sure what’s going on. Might be worth asking on there forum but will wait for Joely to reply.

Best of three.

After the disappointment of the first carbon canister leaking I sent a message to Paul at Banzai Breakers. He assured me it shouldn’t leak and that his didn’t. Unfortunately when that one arrived it was also leaking (annoyingly someone knew it was leaking as it had been sent with a bung holding back the carbon).

Third time lucky was a purchase from a company called Skylinefactoryltd. They suggested how I might fix my faulty one but I decided to send Paul’s back and order from them. It arrived in good time and condition.

Ive still not fitted it but it’s now on the pile of things to do when I start rebuilding the front end. ?

I’ve not had good dealings with banzai breakers last people I’d go for

I’ve used them a few times and all other times the product has been as described. This time it was faulty but there was no fuss returning it, was free to return and I had a fast full refund. So all in all I’m very happy with them and will use again.

On the other hand I wouldn’t touch TMS Motorsport with a rusty fuel tank strap!

If anyone else was looking to do this modification Skylinefactoryltd on eBay said they had loads of good ones on the shelf. ?
