ignition timing

hello guys, need help again lol

the other week i got conzult on my laptop and found that my tps was double the voltage it should be. i have now adjusted it and it's running like a bag of nails. the tps is now 0.4v at idle, but i noted my ignition timing as about 32btdc?!?!?!? yeah i know something is wrong but im buggered if im going to adjust my cas sensor without asking if there is possibly something else causing this to happen eg something to do with adjusting the tps?!?

thanks guys any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you reset the tps on the ecu by unplugging the fly lead on it? You need to let it run for a little while then plug it back in. You may also need to adjust the IACV screw at the back of the engine opposit the batt. Once that's done, get a timing gun on the crank and adjust as required.

ah what is the fly lead? im guessing one of the two plugs on the tps? and is conzult unreliable for the need of a timing light?

thanks man :D

Tbh mate, im struggling to remember which one it is..lol. im thinking it's the top lead that plugs in but may be wrong.

Its not that conzult is innacurrate but it takes it's readings from the ecu and the timing gun method is the actual mechanical reading. I've known conzult to say 15deg and the gun to read 35! Always best to confirm it with a gun.

ah awesome thanks i will do that!! just did as you said with the tps and the timing is down to 15btdc but still running just as bad seems to be hesitating on and extreme scale lol

thanks again :) ill have to get myself a timing light, alway good to have an excuse to buy more tools :D

It's the large grey connector.

As for conzult, this shows you the timing value that the ECU is looking for, not the actual timing itself.

This needs to be set via the crank with a strobe so as to correspond with conzult.

You need to make sure that the engine temperature is up to normal running temp also as the ECU only looks for 15 deg' at this point.

Is it a manual or auto by the way?
