As title states, we've had the worst start to the week, which is going to mean a lot of plans are now canceled :(

Went to work as usual Monday morning, only to get a phone call within a couple of hours.

My boy has fallen over at school and broken his leg!

Get to the hospital, have xray etc to find out his left leg is broken in 2 places below the knee and a spiral fracture going up the bone as well.

Once he had calmed down a bit, he told us that his teachers at school thought it was just a sprain and that they had made him walk on it!!! To say I was fuming is an understatement! Plus on top of that they didn't even call an ambulance, but instead called my other half and told her to pick him up herself!

Gross misconduct and badly dealt with spring to mind straight away.

Anyway... Finally got to bring him home today and he's doing really well coming to terms with using the crutches for the first time.

Although we now have to rearrange the house a bit as he can't get up the stairs to get to his bedroom, also has to use a commode as the only toilet is upstairs :(

We are now going to all miss out on jae  which me and Toby have really been looking forward to for so long!

He will also be missing out on his first school trip away (which me and the missus were looking forward to :tt1: :devil2: )

It is also his 10th birthday in just over a week, which we ordered a bouncy castle and a party DJ for, so no dancing, running and bouncing about for him.

Anyway, sorry to everyone for not being able to come to jae, and we hope you all have a really good weekend!

That's terrible news mate, hope your lad feels better soon. I'd be finding out how it happened too!

Oh mate....... Sounds like you are not having a good time... I can't believe the school didn't call an ambulance and made him walk on it......

How do you fall over and do that much damage? I would be making a serious complaint.....

Looks like he needs lots of DVD's, games and reading material for his birthday......

If there's anything you need just ask..... Not sure what I can do..... ?

Loads of TLC and things he can do sitting down resting......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

The school making him walk on it will have caused more damage :cursing: hoping a speedy recovery for him. Then you can send him somewhere for the weekend so you and the missus can catch up :devil2:

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone, he's going to be taking it real easy for the next month or two, and no doubt he'll be spoilt rotten by everyone :)

My other half will be going over to the school for a long chat with the headmistress and possibly talking to citizens advice over what's happen, I've been told I'm not allowed to come as I can lose my rag very easily and I wouldn't be any help at all

Hope he has a speedy recovery. The school need looking into for their part into making the injury worse A) By making him walk on the broken leg, and B) Not telephoning the ambulance service after he had fallen. Gross misconduct indeed, among other things.

I would have thought with the tight health and safety rules schools have to adhere to now, they would have phoned an ambulance and wrapped him in cotton wool. Hell our school calls us even if our lad has fallen over and scratched his knee lol, definitely one to look into and why not sue the buggers, so many do now.

Wish him all the best and to get plenty of rest, as Gary said, kids bones seem to heal quickly as they are still growing and hope he's not in too much pain.

That's right, kids bones are more cartilage than bone. The cells responsible for taking away the cartilage and replacing with bone are osteoblasts and osteoclasts, and these cells do not finish their work until around the age of 18. Still the school is in the wrong here, they should have left him where he fell and dialled ambulance service right away, it just isn't worth taking any risks where children are concerned. He has been a trouper if he did manage to walk on it though, he must have been in considerable pain.

Sorry to hear that Tom - I wish your lad all the best for a speedy recovery mate. And for a happy 10th birthday, even if he can't do all the things you planned for him.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
