Apart from insurance, just how much do Zeds cost to run, especially in terms of petrol? Anyone know what kind of mpg they get form theirs: all help appreciated

Featured Replies

I get about 16mpg around town and about 25mpg on the motorway doing around, 80........... 9......... ish :D

I get 40miles to the tenner :( that's why I've had to buy a runaround for work & back.

So how many miles do you get on a tank, roughly?

Dont forget things like. Tyres. Anywhere from £200 each to £60 each and the £60 ones will be deadly.

Oil change every 6000miles MAX!!!!

I do it every 4000 most people do it less than that.

I need a new clutch. Thats over £350 for the clutch and over £150 for labour.

There are people on here who will help you keep the costs down though. Andy is always breaking a Z or two so parts are cheap from him.

Stuart

They cost 30+K when new and most are a decade old now.

Don't expect to buy a car like a 300 and not have big buck bills mate.

Even people with later cars have had some frighteners! ;)

Gearbox/engine/turbos etc. go west and it's ALWAYS 1000's not hundreds matey.

400km thats about 252 miles

Yep,thats about right for me allso b19rks,but dont care,just love'em,.Tony:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :p

i did plenty of reaseach before i got mine, and it helps to have a friend thats a body shop repairer and a friend that works at nissan delears, luckily i have both, i just noticed that the rear tyres on mine are 265 35 18's and got to admit i aint looking forward to replacing them, there gonna be at least 130 quid a piece i reckon, but it worth it for the whole zed experience, ive still got my supra mk3 non turbo, and its not nearly as much fun to drive.

How do you guys manage to get so many miles out of an average tank of petrol??

250 is the best I've ever done ... that was plenty of cruise at 80 on the motorway too! That's in the manual I've got now. 300! that's the stuff dreams are made of.

In my previous auto one, I was lucky if I made 210-220 .... Could it be 'cos I've only had it 4 months, and even when I'm good on the long stretches I just can't resist booting it elsewhere:D :D :D

Don't get me wrong, though, I ain't complaining - it's too good for that, and I didn't but it 'cos it was gonna be cheap to run!

CheerZ,

John.

I never let mine run too low but always fill upwith about £40 worth of fuel - that will give me 200 miles. I worked out about 20mpg.

I could never get another car to get to work in tho as it makes work worth going to, just pure fun. Have to go the long way every day.

I got 25mpg going and coming from the Wolverhampton meet. Thats the most I have got. I hardly went below 70 too.

not trying to put anyone of but when one thing goes wrong they cost a flipping fortune to sort out.

(i talk from experience)

regarding fuel bill's i get some very good milage out of mine, on the motorway i get upwards of 300 to a tank, but then i drive like a granny.

best i managed was around 330 whilst driving down to Rome.

worst i have managed is around 200 driving to work and back in traffic. :(

And mines (excuse the pun :p ) been modded alot.

:( Just new it,start replyin to thread running cost and guess what, yep up goes the running costs, goes half mile up road, stop to drop of daughter for dance class,as i pull off see big puddle where me car was sat,2 mins later gets home, under car, take of splash panels, see the water, fill up rad(a bit low),start car,get under it and hey presto water dripping from between under pulley area, shit, quick call to Jeff at zedworld(cheers mate),still under car etc defo looks like naffin water pump gone tits up,there goes me xmas bonus!booked in for Pump,Timing Belt,Thermastat, might as well get it all sorted, thought it cant get much worse today then it did, wife wants a seperation,ha ha ha ha ha ha ha,she's not into cars or anythin remotely near it,says i think to much of the zed and motorsport in genral,(i totaly agree)end of conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D

Yeah, my granny is always spinning the wheels at 80 ;)

Well, the driving experience must be amazing to counteract the running costs. Definitely worth it?

Definately worth the 230miles max to a tank - big grins just thinking about driving the beast and I've had it 5 weeks now!!!!!!!!!!

:D:D:D:D this is the very type of thing that makes all the runnign costs seem worth it lol

While we are on the subject of running costs and fuel.

Can you guys tells me what fuel you use.

I heard somwhere that you should only use super unleaded in a Zed. Is this true or can we use normal unleaded. What difference does it make ?.

I'm currently using Super unleaded and haven't used normal unleaded yet just to be on the safe side.

most on here use Optimax. shell's own Super (duper!) unleaded:D

as for mpg, I think of it as fpg - fun per gallon!!!!:D

Thanks Paul,

I'll buy some shares in Shell and then start buying my petrol there, I'm sure I'll make some money back in the long run.
