I had all the wheels balanced yesterday and went out in it last night to check to see if the vibration had gone and the bloody cruise control didn't work!!!! The light came on when I presed the dash button but not when I pressed the set button on the steering wheel.

Please help!!!!!

You where going over 30mph?

Have you tried it at different speeds?

Did they track your wheels correctly or did they take the wheel off and place it straight which I know a few places that would. Including ATS who told me friend to do it after they balls'd up his tracking 3 times.

Check kill switch on brake pedal, I had this happen to me on my Soup and when I had new brake pads fitted it sorted it out. Brake pedal was sitting on the cruise kill switch.

They didn't track the wheels, just removed them and balanced them and put them back. Sincs then I have had the car on a consult tester and there was no faults with the criuse but when you turn on the switch it doesn't come on.

If the switch on the steerring wheel doesn't activate the cruise the consult will not detect a fault as it doesn't know that the switch has been pushed.

Could either be the switch or the steering wheel I think.

Drivers side footwell, look for the small cover;)

In the engine bay aswell but Iain maybe pointing you in the specific direction for the cruise, I'm not sure bud without physically taking a butchers.

Yeah, looked under the engine one earlier and no cruise. Where abouts in the footwell is it as I was under there this afternoon and couldn't find the box?

Near the brake pedal on the right of it,behind that plastic trim, you will see a small cover;)

auto or manual???

Sounds like they may well have removed the steering wheel tbh. With the wheel straight, remove the screw holding the centre cover from the rear. Its about half way towards the outside from the inside afaik. Once this is removed, pull the cover off and check the wire is connected ;)

Failing that let us know - there's a lot more to check ;)

Hmmmm wish you'd said auto really LOL

How good are you with electrics? Reckon you could check continuity on the ASCD(auto speed control device) controller??? There are TWO kill switches on the manual - one on the clutch and one on the brake. One test (doesn't always work though) is to drive along at a speed where the Cruise will operate (>40mph) and pull the brake and clutch pedal UP towards you. Then try the cruise - if it works it is one of the kill switches needs adjusting (PITA job - dash removal and lots of other bits unless you have very bendy arms).

Try pulling the pedals up and see if that makes a difference ;)

Yeah, tried pulling up on the pedals and it worked! But when I press the button on the steering wheel to accelerate it slows down!

Is this another problem or all part of the original glitch?

Where do I go from here?

Thanks Andy you're a star.

:D

OK, which pedal do you have to pull up to get it to work? Is it the clutch or the brake pedal??? Your next job is pretty nasty tbh. You need to remove the instrument cluster cover and the cluster itself.... Then work your way down the back of the dash until you find the kill switches. Once you know which pedal it is, undo the lock nut on the kill switch, and then screw it in a few turns - best if you remove the connector and measure the resistance BEFORE you adjust it. I THINK it is open circuit when the pedal is depressed so this will be how it measures. When you screw it in keep measuring the reistance until it changes to closed circuit. MAKE SURE you press the pedal a few times and let it return - making sure it goes closed circuit EVERY time the pedal is up. This means you won't have to rebuild it only to find it still aint enough ;)

Any good??? You try explaining it!!! LOL :D
