So I am tarting my Zed up whilst I look for a diesel and decide if I can afford to run both cars (I think it should be ok!), and this weekend tackled the mangled spoiler.
The previous owner resprayed it by hand without primer etc and it looked sick (the bad kind of sick opposed to the young kids meaning of the word). The paint was bubbling and to make matters worse he didn't remove it first so the overspray onto the boot was tragic.
I got some cutting compound and have removed all the overspray and the car is now minus a spoiler (and looking very HOT). Plugged the holes temporarily with some carbon style vinyl wrap... Very tempted to keep it with teh spoiler removed but we will see.
Stage 2 is the respray.. Started today armed with a sander, 60 grit paper and some 400 wet and dry. along with plastic grey primer and a metallic black paint and lacquer.
Here are some photos of teh progress so far (2 hours). I will update later with my progress :)
Keep in mind this is a complete experiment. If it fails then I have a replacement spoiler lined up, but wanted to try it myself as I have never done any respraying and am intrigued to know how well (or not) it works.
