I was thinking... and *yes* I am gonna do it anyway even if it's billy no mates (apart from the missus who is up for it) ..... but is anyone else up for a weekend meet so we can cruise (errm I mean crawl) through the Blackpool illuminations this autumn?

 

My idea is if anyone wants to make a weekend of it we all book a Saturday night at one of the bigger hotels (that has a carpark!) The rest who just want to make an evening of it come up late afternoon and join the convoy.... and given some dry weather we cruise the illumnations both ways targas off (and heaters on most likely)

 

Then later we hit the town and go to the Motown and Soul club near North Pier (or whatever floats your boat)

 

Just asking around right now to see if anyone else wants to do this....... then hopefull I can get some dates organised and something booked

 

Hope I really am not Billy no mates on this one - but my Z will be on the Blackpool fronts whatever lol

Yeah I was wondering if we should meet at a Hotel starting at the North Shore or the South? We can then cruise the illuminations starting from that end, with those who are just there for the day trip then going home from the other end when we all turn round; or of course staying with the rest of us for the return run back to the hotel.

 

Normally we find accommodation at the North end of Blackpool but could look for something at the South shore if that's the better idea?

 

Preferably somewhere big with good car parking. Any suggestions regards a starting point from the locals?

Surely that can't be all traffic if people are heading for hotels at south shore?

I did a bit of searching and made some enquiries at this hotel explaining I was calling from a classic car club

 

 

Premiere inn Blackpool Central

These have ample car parking with 140 spaces plus an overflow carpark. Carpark has 24hr security and CCTV survailance and they were very helpful on the phone regards our requirements

 

They would be happy to accommodate us for one or two nights

 

Booking at receptoin the price would be £76 for the Friday and £86 for the saturday per room - that's the same rate per room rate for either single, double/twin or family rooms - however I was told if booked on line it would be cheaper than this price and we could book individually then call their direct number (I have this) and they would put us all in the same wing if preferred

 

 

This is just a suggestion of course, no doubt there are other options but the price seems about average from what I have looked at

 

They have 40+ rooms available at the moment for the weekend 11th - 13th October

 

So does that suit anyone?

OK I've made my hotel reservation for the two nights now and paid. It was £4 less than the prices I quoted above

 

Anyone else who is going to be staying for one or two nights please make your own reservation at Premier Inn Blackpool Central

 

Once I get back from hols (13th Sept) I will collect together the booking references then speak with the hotel reception directly to arrange for us all to be in the same wing of the hotel and to organise the reserved parking for our cars which they have kindly offered

We're back from sunny hot spain and ready to finalise the blackpool illuminations run. As mentioned before we booked our accommodation already. If you are wanting to stay one or two nights could you also book in at Blackpool Central Premier Inn and let me have to booking reference so I can get them all together and make sure we have secure parking all together
