A couple of times when i've left my cover off the Zed i've then opened the boot to have water come out from the inside plastic surround. Has anyone else experienced this and if so where is the ingress happening, im presuming the window seal but it looks fine and the spoiler looks like it's sealed as well.

I've searched the net but only found one thread relating to this that was vague.

I haven't had the issue with my car but I did with my old Supra and it was a number of things...

wiper seal,

spoiler seals,

window seal,

and boot seal.

it might pay to get some coloured water and pour it over different sections to see if they are leaking..

hire a smoke generator and put it inside the car . saw the technique on the discovery channel car programme , cant remember the name

also jet seal at the top of the glass

No the window is sealed below that with the. Window bond.

Also check your gromets for the wireing loom

I found a little pool of water in my boot a few days ago as well - after the very heavy rain we had. It was pooled on my targa bag, and near the back of the boot, but probably 6 inches from the back and a foot in from the side

I couldn't figure out how it got there either I was wondering if it is possible for rain water to get behind the perspex strip on the hatch, then get into the boot that way???

It hasn't happened since but then we haven't had rain quite so heavy either

I'd have said the wiper gromet.....:sweatdrop:

Good luck in finding it Scot!

yeah mine leaks form the wiper grommet after heavy rain, it always has. I was gunna get it removed but I use it to much.

Thanks for the replies guys. Won't be the wiper grommet as I have no wiper but I did wonder about the Perspex strip as well but I'd imagine there are just a few bolts going through the lid so not much chance of large amounts if water getting in.

I have a plan, I'll remove the plastics and put some talc or chalk poser around potential areas then check for run marks after some rain

The wheeler dealers episode with the DB7 used a smoke machine inside the car and found smoke leaking from behind a door seal. He then put a length of rubber fuel pipe behind the seal to push the seal out .Leak sorted.

Very impressive .

I've not seen that episode if Wheeler Dealers yet but I'll keep my eye out for it. Good idea but I'll try the talc idea first it won't cost anything

There are gaps in the metalwork behind the perspex strip, as well as the bolt holes. Especially around where the brake repeater fits in, and even more so if you have the strip without the built in repeater

Cheers, i'll strip it out once the boots empty and have a look
