I went on a crusie with a few mates last night

everything was going fine untill i hit about 5-5.5k rpm

then it felt like i hit the limiter

this happened a few times in the night

 

any ideas what could cause this?

We have pluged it in and originaly it came up with the nok sensor which we then bypassed

It is only boosting at about 7psi aswel which if i remember right is safty boost

I was looking at other reasons it will be like this while I wait tor my brother to plug it in again

my brother plugged it in today and it was giving out the all good code

i have cleaned the MAF and air filter

 

and still the same

 

the car was fitted with new plugs and timing belt

 

the car was fitted with BOVs but at pestent has recirc's fitted

 

would a boost leak cause this?

What has been changed since you bought the car from Ken?

it goes ok but the revs seem a little slow to pick up up to about 5k in 3rd then it feels like i hit the limiter/fuel cut the same in 4th (and presumably in 5th)

its boosting at about 0.4 bar

 

the exhaust has been changed to a full mongoose cat back with decats

full 60k service and thermostat fuel filter oil filer and spark plugs

manual gear conversion

recirc's have been reinstalled for now as coke bottle lids had been used instead of turbo blanking pugs

3rd and 4th is were i have noticed it as its normaly on a good bit of road when open it up

 

but the slowish reving seems like its in every gear

I just took it out for a quick spin

It seems to pull alot better in 1st and 2nd

But back into 3rd got up to about 5250rpm and I hit the mysterious limiter

mine was doing this, plugs were shite. new plugs problem solved. Does the car make a little popping noise?

The plugs are brand new ngk iridium number 6's

 

How much is the going rate for a A MAF?

Any one got a working one?

try and get hold of a spare from someone...

 

don't buy the ones from china that are new... I've tried them and they don't work. so a good second hand one should do..

Hi

I swapped the maf over with my brothers on friday, disconected the battery to reset the ecu

But it hasnt changed the sudden loss of power. I thought it could be the jdm speed limiter but I read somewhere that it wouldn't get up to that kind of speed in 3rd

I have my brothers boost leak tester but I have no idear how to use it

I have saved a log using Nissan datascan if anyone can see if they notice any thing?

did you say you did the boost leak test? you need to do that as a bad enough one will case similar symptoms.

 

 

so I would take it back to basics...

 

check and re-check all electrical connectors for corrosion and contact (particularly PTU & CAS) and make sure they all have their metal clips.

(but make sure you check TPS, injectors and coils as well, some are really had to get to and need to be careful getting the metal clips off)

 

check the timing with a timing light.

 

check and balance the TBs.

Well mine has started doing this now. Boost boost boost and loads of power all the way up until 5k RPM then suddenly nothing like its cut out all together! Doesn't do it all the time but a pain when it does! Would like to know how to resolve this...To be it feels like the spark for the plugs as blown out... Don't really wanna go to the expense of changing the PTU, PLUGS, CAS all at the same time. Would be nice to narrow it down to just that one thing so i can buy just that one thing!

Mine also has just started this tonight i absolutely shat myself ive got an auto tho not a manual nothing on the car has been changed or updated just a random occurrence any help would be great please :)
