Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to mention that I had had the water pump cambelt and pulleys replaced this week by my local mobile mechanic who has worked on my cars for years, and I must say, he has done an impeccable job! I was very anxious about it all, but it was quick, easy and cheap!

If anyone else around the Southampton to Bournemouth area needs some reliable work done I can't recommend this guy enough, only charges around £15 per hour and has a good 25yrs experience. Will hopefully be able to trust him with the rest of the Zed in the future!

Also I must put out a big thanks to Ian Greenfield who has sent me his old pulleys which are a hell of a lot better than my old ones and saved me £260 which I just didn't have this month after the other work! i owe you a drink mate! Big respect to the club here and its members, a real great bunch :)

So, all the best guys - I am off to London for the weekend and to give Zed a run in after the work :)

Best,

William.

Quick and easy is not something i would describe doing the cambelt and waterpump on a zed lol, out of the car, easy, but in........

Did he check the timing with a gun?

Your welcome William, hope the run out in the Z goes well and in as per forum rules don't forget some pics

Yeah m pretty sure he uses a gun. Well I say it was quick and easy, I was at work so it was easy for me haha, I'm sure I missed all the swearing :p but never the less I was a bit anxious about it at first but have complete faith in him and just thought it was a deserved mention.

Got up to london without a hitch so all good. :D have a good weekend all, peace.

Are you the mechanic Ian?

God no i contemplated doing mine myself, read the service book and then promptly took my car straight to my local mechanic to have mine done.

Far too fidly for my sausage fingers. I got the parts he took off returned in the boot of the car after inspecting them they probably didn't need changing but as i had no history from the previous owner other than the jap import papers / books and the fact it had been sat in his centrally heated garage for 7 years then i thought best to just change it.

You say that, but ESP for a quad cam car it's not too bad. Everything's there in front you. Not like a lot of cars where your fighting with the inner wing and engine mount.

Best changing what you can for peace of mind
