Because the steerings on the wrong side, the spoiler will hit all the potholes and they won't let you park it next to the donkey and karts at the local!!!!...now how much do you want for it??

Love this car even from the photos, want to move on from my 525D E39 but stay with the chassis as its the best I have ever driven...looking at 530D, 530i or...540i.

Does the 540i have a mappable ebgine given its the base of the M5 version?

Yes engine is mappable, 4.4 V8 6 speed manual with 300 horses as standard and 435ftlb at 1500 rpm, can pull away in third gear with not to much trouble, pulls so hard at low revs and goes all the way round to 7k rpm, its a joy to drive.

Glad to see your still around Jeff! What the hell have you done to that to get 435ftlb out of it?! My M5 is only 369!

Although based around the M52, the M5 engine has increased bore and stroke as well as a higher compression ratio, individual throttle bodies and different cams in order for it to produce 400bhp. A lot more to it than a remap, although you can remap them unlike your 525d which would response quite well being turbo charged the NA petrols won't really do a huge amount. Best all rounder has got to be the 530d, neck end of 200bhp standard can be mapped to 250 without bother but the torque figures are just out of this world. Although you need to be a touch careful with auto gearboxes as they can be a bit weak with the remapped diesels
