Hi guys, me again.

Still got the problem with the high tickover etc. I've cleaned the PTU connectors and done an ECU reset but to no avail, still got the problem. Can anyone tell me where to find the throttle position sensor, how to clean the throttle bodies and anything else worth a try? Pictures would be a great advantage as I'm not brilliantly mechanically minded. I've tried looking on twinturbo.net, but can't access their doc's because they have a problem with their site at the mo. Cheers again.

The throttle bodies is the front of the Plenium (Big alloy thing on the engine ;)) chanber.

dis connect the 2 hoses that go into the plenium chamber get some carb cleaner and squirt it in and use a paint bush to clean it. I use virtually all the can of carb cleaner. Open the butterfly vavles in the chanber either by hand or press the accelerator and make sure you get in there.

Block the hose so no debis can get down them and if you use a can of carb cleaner with a straw dont lose it in there.

The throttle position sensor is the little back box on the right side of the front of the plenuim chamber.

Cheers once again. I'll give it a whirl and let you know how I get on.

just thought id mention. The throttle position sensor has a connector on the front, and a connector on a flying lead. The one on the front is for the hard/soft idle switch. The one on the flying lead is the one that carries the throttle position information.

You don't really want to use that much cleaner, it'll just end up sloshing around the plenum and gumming up something else. All you need to be doing is cleaning enough of the throttle body neck so that the butterfiles close properly and seal correctly. The trickier part is getting the outside edge of the butterfiles clean, so you need to wedge them open and have long fingers.

hello mate. it will most certainly be the wiring to your throttle position sensor as I had the exact same problem with eratic tickover.

pull off the sensor for a start, clean up all round there and then trace the wiring, checking for any splits, bare wires, oxidisation etc.

mine was in a pretty poor state just where it takes a 90 degree bend out of the sensor. solderd that and hey presto-problem gone!

its tricky but do follow the wiring thru to the top of the engine as there is no point just doing half of the job.

good luck and I'm confident this will do the trick! (I bought a new PTU from Courtesy Nissan thinking it was that-but it wasn't!) Shameless plug,,,,,,,, this is now for sale £100.
