So, after the garage fitted the new near side pipe, were the brakes ok? or did this leave you with the current problem?

Just trying to understand the history as they may have caused the problem having had to break into the system.

they were ok till I came to change some pads then the pro arose i have brakes but the pedal varies from day to day somtimes it travels a bit other times its good totally miffed cant understand it espescially the master cylinder bit where the fluid dont drop

If you forced the pistons in to take the new pads it can sometimes invert the seals, this could be the problem.

dont think so the only replaced a pipe no pads so would only have had to bleed the system

am bleeding my brakes at the mo when i was doing the front i was pumpin them for ages and the fluid in the master wasnt going down was less than half full but when i topped it up for full then pumped the brakes the fluid level went down and the brake bleed ok i also recomend this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171050178411?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

i have used them for years and there great

I'd say that either the pipe is not on tight enough and is letting air in OR the seals have gone in your BMC. If the Garage changed the pipe then surely the should have bled at least the corner they did? Take it back to them and get them to sort it, as it sounds like they've done a half arsed job on it mate.

EDIT: Just seen that you don't want to go back to them, which is fair enough. Is there not another reputable garage near you? It shouldn't cost much to get it looked at and sorted.
