Hi does anybody know how to run a diagnostics check for faults on a twenty pin jap auto ASCD system pls,

sympton is mine will light up as armed but will not engage from the control stalk, does the system rely on a signal of any type from the auto shifter area , as recently i notciced a small fork type piece of plastic broken in this area, are the two things related ??

thanks

there is no self diagnostic mode for the later 20-pin versions of the ASCD...you will need to connect a consult to be able to diagnose these.

You can do some trouble diagnosis using the procedures as described in this document: http://dta-motorsport.com/temp/ASCD_V2.pdf

there's no sensor or switch in the area of the auto shifter, so I doubt it has anything to do with it not wanting to engage.

I asume you know it only works between certain speeds, for the import this was a higher bottom threshold than the uk. Cant remember the exact speed as not got cruise on mine, but something like 50 mph

Is the broken plastic to do with taking it out of park without the engine on ?

Would the ascd park/neutral inhibitor switch not be near the auto shift? Or is it on the gearbox?

Or, is the ASCD system fine , but refusing to engage because i disabled the Hicas on the PAS ECU ( this was done as a NA back end was fitted)

Might sound silly this BUT - does your horn work as the cruise control is fused by a few different things. My horn fue went and that knocked it off. when I fixed that, still nothing. I unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of days ago, and now it's working again :)

ill give it a go later, did you just pull the fuse and push it back in , and which one was it Bird , in the footwell or engine bay,

i was wondering why the horn relay was involved in the circuit

Sorry, the horn fuse in the engine bay had popped so I replaced it (front passenge side of the engine bay). Was just a normal spade fuse... Just press your horn lol

I unplugged the cruise controle (back drivers side of the engine bay) and plugged it back in.

Hope that made a little more sense. Obviously it works once you're over 30 mph

iirc if you swap for a UK control module it can be set anywhere upto 100mph, give us a shout if you want one :)
