I've recently bought a Jap import 300ZX Twin Turbo with auto transmission. On the forward side of the transmission selector lever, near it's base, there is a red switch which appears to slide up and down. What the hell does it do and how does it work? My Jap language handbook provides no clues whatsoever.

That switch *unlocks* the gear-selector.

If you slide the little switch up, you'll be able to move the stick
