It looks like I'm going to need a set of rear arches before one of my zeds is re-sprayed.

My question is this does anyone know if its possible to get rear arches off the shelf anywhere?

Or the body shop I went to suggested it maybe possible to use arches off another vehicle/ Nissan to suit the zed.

His example was that Toyota corolla arches used to fit the same radius / profile as the mr2

Hi Rich, I had to have my arches rebuilt on a prelude year due to rust... I had a few quotes for rebuilds around 1000, and then a great guy in ringwood who rebuilt both rear arches and resprayed my front bumper for £250. They were rebuilt using fiberglass and finished very well. Not sure I would do it on a 300 but worked well on my £1300 prelude. Can you go to a breakers yard with a cutter and take some? - there is a breakers in winchester specialising in 300s.

Why don't you just find one that someone's breaking one and cut the arches out of that? Personally wouldn't use ones from another car as the rear arches are a certain shape/design. There's a small ridge that runs round the arch also. Nothing stopping you doing it of course and in practice there's nothing wrong with it, but it wouldn't look right with another car's arches on it. A good panel beater will be able to re-create it though.

 

Are your inner wings rotten?

I wouldn't use fibreglass. The arches and arch lips are a structural part of the car. A, you're likely to get flex and it'll crack B, it'll affect the car's overall stiffness. Z32s are big heavy cars with plenty of potential stress points.

I have a set of rear arches i bought them and never used them pm me if interested...

Out of interest, how much are you asking for the arches?

I haven't really looked into their availability as my Z has none and also have never had any rust. But MJP might still be able to get hold of them. I am pretty sure they're discontinued, but it's worth a shot.
