Hello everyone.

Ok so my new 300zx arrived home this week, it is a dark blue 4th series manual TT. Really well looked after apart from an idiot who repainted the spoiler by hand in the wrong blue!

I am going ot be getting some lowerign springs and eventually coilovers and 18" wheels which will probably be black or split silver and black/matte black. Along with that I was thinking a gloss black spoiler would probably set it off quite nicely. (I may be wrong but worth a shot).

Either way I am wondering if there is any advice to the process or any write ups on respraying sometime like this myself? I can get a guy to do it but I would much rather lend my hand at this and learn some skills along the way!

best regards,

William.

I would get a sprayer to do the spoiler and start on something small like a nose cone,, unless you have a good spray booth all sorts of crap could end up on there

nose cone??... is that the little rectangle on front of the bonnet?

Well i decided to find out what black looked like so dug out some carbon fiber vinyl wrap... never used this stuff myself but used to have an online shop that sold it.... pretty happy with the black on blue look! Now just for some black alloys! Here is a before and after taken on my brick of a camera blackberry...

No offence taken, this is purely a test to gauge opinions...

is it thi spoiler in general you don't like or specifically black? I do like the clean look when people have them removed...

I agree, I prefer the clean look too.........wchestnutt

The spoiler looks a bit narrow, more like a 200sx spoiler?

might be the colour..... may look different colour coded to car?

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

hello, It is a 4th series 300 which had a revised spoiler which nips in just either side of the rear window... http://www.thesupercars.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Nissan-300ZX.jpg

I would be tempted to despoiler it but I fear that will turn into ta bit of a big so for now it will be a case of a respray probably with some colour coded wheels :) Eventually a 99spec front bumper too! yum.

best, Will.

It sounded like a bad idea to me - however, now I have seen it I like it! But can't you get the black spoiler a bit more glossy?

Spraying is mainly in the prep. Spend the time doing that. Gloss black will show any imperfections in the spoiler, and dips will need filling and smoothing, when you smooth do it to a large area rather that just a finger as it will give an even finish
