Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone in the Burnley area would be willing to come with me to look at a car...?

It's a '98 zed.

I have limited knowledge about looking at a mechanically sound car anyway, never mind what I should be looking for on a zed.

I'd appreciate any help :-)

I'll be looking to come down one Saturday (maybe Sunday) this month.

Thanks :-) :thumbup1:

I've been away so the reason for me not replying sooner. I spoke to the seller last year and he seems very genuine and I do have his number still but I have never managed to actually view it as yet although I always look and there it always is on his drive.

He has had it a while then but to me doesn't advertise it much and I know he imported it, I will do anything you want me to do to help so just let me know.

By far the best car/bargain for sale is Deans silver SWB Slicktop, but then I would say that! ;)

Yeah i've been speaking to Dean as well. Did it run well when you had it?

I quite fancy going to have a look at it, but it's a 700mile round trip and i'd have to convince my dad that it's a good idea to take me :thumbup1:

Yeah that'd be great. I think i'm going to pop down & have a look at it sometime this month, i'm thinking either Friday 26 July (i'm already in Teesside) or Sunday 28 for that meet. That would give me a chance to see a good few zeds in action :)

My only query is that he's just text me saying it's got no history, but a warranted mileage...

Ok, cheers mate.

Hopefully he'll send me some more pictures of it today :euro:

Dan, - please be aware that Andy (phutumpsh) will be telling you that it doesn't have enough LED's on it

Most imports don't have any history, it would be in Japanese if it had. And if he's imported it and not used it there would be no history to speak of from over here either

But how does he know the mileage is genuine?

He's sent some pictures across, some look different from those on autotrader so i'll upload them tonight if i get chance.

I assume i'll be permitted to do that on here?

It looks quite tidy & although not to many peoples taste, the gear stick is class haha. And the lambo doors - my one true love.

It does look nice imo!

can never tell if mileage is genuine or not especially with an import your best asking for the bimta certificate which comes with when the car was imported but even then you cant be 100% sure if it has been clocked back from where it came from prior to import and the same goes for here,

I went and looked at this car today, the seller is very nice and genuine :thumbup1:.

The car is sound with zero rust as it's a fresh import.

Bodywork is in very good condition, will come up a treat with a good polish.

The body kit is perfectly acceptable and not OTT.

Has a decent exhaust system on it.

Stock, unmessed with engine and sounds sweet enough with Blitz BOV's on hard pipes like mine.

There's no insurance on it so I couldn't take it on the road.

He's only sporadically advertised it in the years since he imported it, he did tell me that ebay was really a waste of time and autotrader as developed much more interest.

It must be a series 5, quite rare to get a Z as late as this.

The doors are not to my taste but he has the kit to transform them back should you wish.

IMHO.......You get what you pay for and this looks un abused and if as I expect it drives sweet enough then it'll be worth the money as you're buying later spec and zero owners in the UK which to me is a great plus, certainly well worth some serious consideration .

S5 with that rear spoiler? Did you check any date stamps? Boost gauge in clocks?

He has removed a high level spoiler so obviously some aftermarket stuff going on in this area, re the bodykit.

Seat belt is stamped 1998 and no boost gauge in the clocks as is normal with the later specs (one can easily be plumbed in like I have for around £100.00).

Hello mate, thanks for that.

Unfortunately my circumstances have changed so i won't be joining the club just yet. I've let the lad know. Hopefully it'll still be available when things pick up again!

Cheers though

Cool seems an odd choice putting that spoiler on, pity someone has ruined it with the bodykit but still nice to be a 98 build!

What kind of air con pod did it have? Looks like the digital ones

It is and I nearly stated that it was digital, I have seen these type and also the manual pods on later spec Z's :thumbup1:.

I guess they're easily changed. If I had the wheel type I'd definitely be swapping it to the digital ones - just cos I like them better

Out of interest, is this dude just a personal trader? I'm just wondering why it couldn't have been driven on trade plates

Correct again my good man, he's only a private fellow but to be real serious and to move it on as I know he does, he needs some MOT, 6 months tax and insurance on it, as 100% of buyers are gonna wanna take it for a damn good test drive.

Great job on this mate. Good man

Have some rep fella
