what is your preffered footwear? ive been looking at numerous sets of footwear and ive done a test on a heat mat to determine the type of foot i have (nearly flat footed which is quite common) and i was in sports direct and the girl showed me some karriomore running shoes which she said was a best seller

but i would like some feed back, asiscs gel seem to be the number one but not having a lot of spare cash lately im not wanting to spend £100 on shoes unless they are really worth it

ive also seen the adidas boost shoes, does anyone have them and are they really worth the £120 price tag?

oh and i have a birthday coming up in august (the 3rd) if any kind sole (see what i did there lol) would like to treat me lol

just suffering from injuries like shin splints and stretch muscles

Shin splints are sooooo painful!! Get some Nike Downshifter 5. Superb for the money.

they are not so bad now as they were, some good exercices have sorted that

will look into those, cheers mate

I'm about to come out of football retirement and start training again on Tuesday. My only ŵorry is shin splints. Only if you've had it you realise how painful it is.

join a running club, i have and its great, proffesional runners giving lots of advice on excercices and warm ups, but no advice on shoes as all are different lol

Ha I used to work at sports direct, I also run in the RAF but doesn't mean what I wear is good for you.

I wear new balance.. Good brand and can cater for a lot of people's needs asics are a good brand also.

But these are the higher price margin in some cases.

ROCES size 10, Sims streetsnake wheels and ABEC 7 bearings, No shin splints, but did go down like a deer on ice a few months ago....

I don't run, I skate fast......lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

lol hollings thought you would be on the nice issued pair. or uk gear 3 lol.

Got Asics myself as that's what the shop recommended for me ;)

Did you run on a treadmill while they watched it too?

I can second New Balance, I am a heavy runner (16st) and the ones I have are great and were only about £35. I wore Asics before that were supplied by the rugby club I play for and they were horrendous! Had bad knees, shins, soles ALL the time. Different shoes for different runners tho.

sorry bout the late reply guys, ive been chatting to the coach and there is a shop nearby that does the treadmill thing and is very helpful so im gonna pop along and have a look maybe during next week

much appreciate the input, oh and its a new balance shop

I use Saucony Hurricane shoes, had them reccomended following damage to both achillies tendons as a result of over pronation in the foot (rolling out). they were about £90 and the originals i bought were Grid models.

After going to a specialist sports shoe shop and purchasing the first pair, i now use http://www.sportsshoes.com, they give alot of technical info aboout shoe types and provide icons for each shoe type...I don't know whether Saucony are a stand out value brand, but they worked for me in helping me recover mobility.

So did they describe you as Over pronated in your running gate!! lol...apparently you can tell a lot by how your sole wears down...let us know what you get.

im not going till tomorrow, im going to a new balance shop as they seem to be very good and ive had them recomended, will let you know how i get on

Not sure I would go to any branded store as they will obviously just want to sell you their own ;)

Come highly.recomended by the running coach and most of our team wear thrm, ive just been and my left foot rolls in badly, got some shoes that will hekp my shin splints and comoensate for my arch roll, ran with them on the treqdmill and up and down the street, had a good chat and decided on a pair, very happy at £45 aswelk lol

That's very cheap mate and makes the effort of going to one of these places well worth it ;)

Did you not see the 2 documentrys on running and sports shoes , the treadmill and traces of people running in heavyly cushioned trainers compared to bare foot , real eye opener, the experts say less is more, gimmicky air soles are a no no. I wish i had seen this when i was youger i was a competitive runner and cyclist, now i have no knee in my right leg and could not have a knee put in, so i used Nike Airmax and Adidas LA , so look up what the neutral expert says not a shop. and don't use what i did. There is very little sole on best modern running shoes. The guy that does the research runs to work every day in bear feet.Try and find documentary if you can. It is know harder to find a car to drive with a permanantly fused straight leg than find a pair of shoes, Had to have a bucket seat and take out my lovely electic leathers have a custom sub frame with no runners and seat thigh bolster removed. All the best and choose carefully , it ruined my life.

Zola Bud was a world first in international athletics, ruinning barefoot, although there are some long distance track runners now doing the same...there big concern is being spiked by other runners.

I guess the practical side of running barefoot on the street is mitigated by the poor surfaces we would find let alone the health aspect. There are now trainers you can buy that are formed for the foot to include individual toes, looks very odd, but suggests they recognise some merit in the barefoot advantage!

there is a pair of trainers that fit your feet like a glove ie with your toes fitting in them cant mind the name of them its designed to make your run on the front of your feet rather than the heel, a few guys have them here in my unit and i have an officer big heavy guy he is bout 40+yr old and he wears them aswell.

The guy on documentary mentioned those but steered clear of naming brands, just stated less is more.
