Will be trying to remove this before I pull the engine. I have read that one of the rear bolts on this in impossible to get at until you start to pull th engine. Anyone who has done this recently could shed some light on it would be appreciated, cheers.

yep ... it can be done with engine in place ..

but if your removing the engine just undo the pipes ... if the AC system is not working or empty anyways

leave it on till you pull motor mate...and put it back before you re-fit as its easier, and the alternator too is left on and fitted 1st with loom that connects down behind the drivers headlight

I used a crowsfoot spanner, it is a a right PITA but doable. Can't remember what size you need though  12, 14 or 17mm, more likely one of the first two..

Cheers guys thanks for all your answers.

Reckon I'll just disconnect the hoses for the easy option

Exactly - if you're pulling the engine anyway then do that......

.....Otherwise it can be removed and refitted with the engine in place. Jeff has replaced my a/c pump recently and did not take the engine out!! If he did, he didn't charge much for an engine removal and refit....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I took mine off before removing the engine and I could barely hold a ratchet when I did it lol. I have my engine out at the moment if you want a pic from the back or anywhere to see how it attaches. Let me know if you do

14m ratchet spanner Howard on the rear bolt works ,do not undo the pipes unless the gas is already gone.Must pumps seize shortly after once re gassed due to lack of oil in the pump and the dryer filter will absorb moisture unless you 100% seal the system whilst its apart.leave the pump on until you lift the motor as Brian said then undo the last bolt.
