Hi

yesterday I was on the M27 motorway and it was p*ssing down, car running fine, hit the 50 mph restriction for 2 miles, dropped to 4th then 3rd to stay in limit. When I went to accelerate away just misfired and lost power, Cat overheat light came on for 4/5 seconds, changed up and ran ok, but if I tried to go over 3k revs would misfire. A few miles later and back in Pompey, no rain, car was running fine and was ok this morning.

Any ideas to the problem?

Rob

That is the exact same thing that used to happen to me in the rain when I had a gubbed induction kit.

MAF also another thing I'd consider.

Your MAF/filter is getting wet mate. Happens to me too

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

My cone filter doesn't like getting wet - if it picks up a lot of road water from underneath or if rain gets through the vented nose panel than she doesn't like higher revs or strong boost. She almost cuts out for half a second when I cane it.

100% MAF.

Do you have an aftermarket bumper or vented nose panel, with an Induction cone filter.

Its not normally a problem with the stock front bumper as there is a splash guard incorporated into it that sits above the bottom vent, just underneath the MAF. (This is different to the standard undertray gaurds, that should also be fitted).

But when fitting aftermarket bumpers it gets removed. I would suggest knocking up a new one. Its an approx A4 paper size plastic guard that sits horizontally just below the MAF.

Hi

It's an NA with stock bumper and nose cone, have a cone filter on it.

I will check the state of it later. How do I check condition of the MAF or is it just prevent it from getting wet?

Also, I get no choice driving it in rain as my missus passed her test :crying::crying: and has nicked our other car

Just checked it out and there is water in the air filter, just amazed how it gets in that area as there doesn't seem to be any gaps but will dry it out and add some form of barrier to stop water getting in.

Cheers for the advice
