just a follow on from why not to use No Genuine nissan belts or 3rd party branded

as per the other Thread about using non genuine belts

these are the things you need to be looking out for when timing Having the Cams and Lower sprocket in the correct place

now as all Proper 300z Mechanics know that the timing marks on the 300z are only for point of Ref not for timing the car engine spot on

when timing you start from the bottom working anti clockwise as the tensioner is on the left

Refer to this when using a belt that don't have the timing lines on it

24-45-24-59,---------,76 from the crank to the right exhaust cam.

numbers are teeth between cams, starting with the right exhaust cam

Now most of the time the cams will not align up with the dots in the rear cover so that's why its very important that its correct on the belt

When electronically timing the engine up Only use a Strobe light ... as when the car is hooked up to conzolt it will only tell you its at 15* regardless where the cas has been moved to

thanks for looking

And there you have it in a nutshell. This is the reason i put my car on a transporter to zedworld, because i bet you average jo garage proberly wont have this knowledge..nice thread.

Will any timing strobe light work? I read a post ages ago that there is only one that is suitable for the VG30 but that seems a bit ridiculous
