I have smoked for atleast 12yrs, and just gave up went the 1st day without any which was hard,

After 1st day its not that bad, they even smoke in car on way to work and im ok with it.

The smoking bit seems ok, but I feel weird a bit dizzy, and in like a world of my own, its hard to explain.

Eating loads, and the misses will tell u quite grumpy and snappy lol.

Anyone else give up, did u feel dizzy etc and for how long..please dont say yrs..

Going cold turkey- that's hard! My other half is giving up using one of those electric cigarettes with fruity flavours. Gone from 40/50 a day to nothing. Just gotta wean himself off the gizmo now. It has taken the edge off his cravings. Now both our mums have one too! Can't answer your question but well done so far!!

Terry it will soon pass, then you'll get to the stage were you just can't stand the smell.

Just don't look for an excuse to start again.

I don't really feel like I want one, just feel different.

But gonna try hard not to smoke again.

yea m8 you will fill dizzy and when you sweat the smell of fags is bad and you will be a grumpy git with every one and thing again that will pass sounds daft but the day seams longer too I put on 4 stone and went too a 18 neck

I tried giving up smoking 3 years ago just before I got married went 4 months started off using tablets prescribed by the doc, took them for 2 weeks and then they made me feel sick so stopped taking them but they had helped get over the initial cravings, the stress of planning the wedding got me smoking again.

Well done tho for doing it with no help :)

Ive given up fags but now smoke baccy and have done for nearly a year, its not the health issue with me it was the price, i refuse to pay nearly £8 for a pack of fags, i have a place i get 50g of Golden Virginia cheap and that lasts me all week.

I have had an electric fag for a few years and occasionally give it a blast, but i sort of got put off using it after not being allowed to use it on a plane.

I tried giving up years ago and lasted a week, the dizziness is the body getting clean oxygen to the lungs, which you will get over after a week or so, good luck, its hard and does take will power, which by the way i also have very little of lol

Hopefully it goes quick...

Stick with mate! Yes it will be hard, but well worth it in the long run.

Explain to everyone close to you about the mood swings, the support of those close will make it that little bit easier.

I have been off the fags for over 20 years now, best thing I have ever done short of meeting my wife and having a daughter.

Good luck, you won't regret it.

It took me 3 attempts by the way, but got there in the end.

yeah, keep up the good work...

I gave up about 18 years ago... took quite a few years before I didn't want one any more and finally after about 5 years I tried one and it was so disgusting that I put it out after one puff.

best thing I ever did... :)

I have been off them for about 7 months now, still have the odd time where i think about having one but very few and far between now. I took the tablets for 2 weeks then stopped taking them on my actual quit day as they were making me very very quick tempered!!. I found having a quit app on my phone helped, Keeps track of how many cigs you haven't had and how much you have saved etc!! Trust me when you see how quick the cigs not smoked counter hits 1000 its unreal!! Heres my stats since iv stopped:

I have been quit for 7 Months, 4 Weeks, 2 Days, 11 hours, 10 minutes and 50 seconds (242 days).

I have saved £1,685.12 by not smoking 4,849 cigarettes.

I have saved 2 Weeks, 2 Days, 20 hours and 5 minutes of my life.

My Quit Date: 01/10/2012 23:59

Bearing in mind me and the g/f smoked the same amount and stopped at the same time we have saved almost £3500!!

Yeah. And spend it on something nice! My other half has used his for spendies. He's at the Isle of Man tt at the mo.

I never spun out when I gave up.

I think I lobbed the fags in the bin and said f'it too lol.

You finished my engine yet Terry?

Can't get hold of you on the phone.

Keep it up, I've been stopped about 12 years, its took till know to get the weight back of lol, I used the nicotine gum which helped :)
