Hi all.

I keep reading about people having boost creep problems with bigger turbos at high boost and rpm using the 3" down pipes. Has anyone come across this problem? I hear the solution is to remove the divider in the down pipes.

Cheers dan

i would of thought the oposit on the exhaust pipes .. as boost creep only happens when the flow from wastgate is being restricted or not opening fully

mark is correct

boost creep can only be caused by a wastegate being to small or not opening properly due to a actuator or something stopping it fault

Could it be that the divider is stoping the waste gate opening up all the way? Im sure I remember Jaffa having a problem with boost creep due to his down pipes?

the Divider only separate the Main exhaust gas to the wastgate gas's ..

how far the actuator swings open is governed by the actuator its self or the distance on of the turbo housing flange and where the down pipe face meets

Yes, the 3" downpipe can cause boost creep with big turbos and full breather mods. Took me a while to diagnose as didn't have it until I switched to a better flowing cat back

It's fixed by removing the divider, it gives enough room around the wastegate to exit the gases it needs

Cheers for the info jaffa do you think I could have the same problem with the Gt28rs? Ive got 3" exhaust system thoughout with the 2.5 ams intercooler pipe kit.

Cheers dan

I would remove it given your mods yes, not worth the hassle of trying to sort it out after.

just to jump in here as im in the middle of fiiting my new engine with the 3" stainless downpipes from speciality zed using jwt sports 650 turbos will it need removing on mine

the stock 2" piping is a huge restriction. I would say leave the dividers there for now

Cool cheers another question ?? I've bought another stainless system the japspeed with down pipes and xpipe rear silencers but the 3" pipes are different angle which down pipes do I need to buy or shall I cut and tig the down pipes ??

Cheersz. Rich

not sure theres any different decat pipes to fit your 3" down pipes m8

but on another note ... i had the dividers in on my down pipes .. stock boost was peaking out around 14 .. with removed 12.5psi ... so they have made a difference

They are a angle 3" down pipes unless decat pipe I have only fit stock turbos if that's the case u need to get sum more or cut em
