If a Z32 has one fitted where is it located????

Secondly ... the wiring diagram shows a Diode pack in the circuit. Where is that located??

If memory serves me right, the relay is behind the drivers side inner wheelarch liner. (brown in colour) Upper left hand side as you look at the wheel.

thanks for that. There are two diodes in a pack which control wires associated with the headlights which is where I have a fault. I will look at the wiring in the arch ... maybe the diodes are near the relay???

This may have some relevance.

FIXED!

A certain Mr. J. Turner at a certain Z specialist in the Midlands area identified two issues that were causing the electrical problems - one of which was a faulty diode tucked away in the engine loom somewhere [the existence of which you wouldn't know without looking at a wiring diagram], and the other was a faulty [as in partly broken possibly due to a pothole] fuse in the engine bay.

 

Jeff's explained it to me twice and the details still escape me, but after looking at a wiring diagram it appears that a current was finding its way onto both sides of this particular buzzing relay causing the switch to flick back and forth and therefore buzz. I think the circuit was to do with the rear lights, but perhaps Jeff might want to post a bit more detail [i.e. tell me third time!]. So a big thankyou to Jeff for quickly getting to the bottom of this and fixing it. Apparently the faulty diode could have been contributing slightly to my parasitic drain, and so I'm currently measuring that on a daily basis (without using the car) to see if the car can list a bit longer without dying. I've just started a new thread measuring the volts each day.

Hi Redwine300. That quote is possibly relevant.

The fault I have is the headlights all come on at once and you cant turn off the main beam.

The switch and the flasher switch all work 100% as do both blue relays and the black one in the main fuse box. There is something wrong in the current supply to the black relay.

A Nissan schematic of the wiring shows it has a common feed with the headlamp washer and these two diodes are there to prevent "back feeding" Faults in them would explain my lighting problem.

In other words power is getting to both sides of the main beam relay all the time.

My mate is looking in to this for me hence the need to find where the Diode pack is located in the loom????
