I was driving my zed today due to the wonderful weather (really enjoying it mind you). Going down a nice stretch of road. Car was perfect but all of a sudden the engine started to sound like a tractor and i quickly pulled over. Switched the car off and had a look, there was a massive trail of oil on the road were i been driving.... :censored:

I had a look at the engine bay and couldnt really see anything..so had a look underneath and massive puddle of engine oil!!!! one of the oil cooler pipes had burst putting my engine oil out on the road.. no words to describe the feeling i was having.

I called the aa and they recovered it for me to a garage were new engine oil was put in!! again! started the car up and it sounds normal but i am getting white smoke coming out from both exhausts and heavier smoke coming out during acceleration!!!!

I am guessing the worst some sort of potential engine damage???!!???!! she must have run a minute or so without engine oil!!

what could be the problem!??!

Cant believe this had to happen now!!! pissed off!! feel all the work i put into the car as gone to complete waste!!!

white smoke is water, thats indicates HG or merely conndensation depending on the amount.

Oh no, sorry to hear this buddy. I really hope you can get it sorted with non or little cost.

thanks mate, but completely gutted :( really annoyed it had to happen now!, i am trying to figure out what causing the white smoke!! :( :( :(

be best to get the turbos checked as most likely may of been starved of oil first and could explain the symptoms your having now.

hope you can get it sorted out without too much cost.

Mate, i am completely gutted cant believe it happened, i am trying to figure out what causign the white smoke!! :( :( :(

I bet you are mate, I would be gutted myself, I am gutted for you as well, you have put a lot of work into your Zed.

Well she smokes while idling whiteish smoke but smells like oil (i think)! and smokes heavier when under load or boost!!

i think it could be Greyish Smoke with light Blue in there!!

Ill try and get a video up later! :(

Acrid-smelling white smoke on idle is vapourised oil exiting out the newly-damaged oil seals. Turbo seal damage due to dry bearings will be the first thing to show due to oil starvation, further down the line you may have bottom end issues (shells) and top-end issues (cam/tappets).

Big business in breaking Zeds :)

true, if you have the space, tools and resources for it !

Indeed. I've broken cars for people before, just taking a cut of everything that's sold. Works out quite well, especially as I will have someone break the car for me, all I have to do is sell the parts. Plus, the unlucky owner gets a lot more than if he had sold it outright. Lot of trust involved though

No time at all for that at the moment, too many damn cars to map :D

very bad news m8 feel for you m8 i know how it is :(

but to the sounds of it and with it being no oil in the engine i would be pointing more towards the Main/Big end bearings shot Hence the tractor sound

normally if a turbo fails due to oil they be lack of power or rattling/grinding sounds

Sorry to hear that mate, although on the bright side for you - if it had sold already and this happened to the new owner on the way home or the next day then you'd have had a very unhappy chappy at your door demanding their money back

Foul-smelling white smoke on idle is always vapourised oil from damaged turbo oil seals. The tractor noise would have likely been an unlubricated valve-train, if a bottom end was making that noise, it would have already spun a bearing or two and been close to throwing a rod. The bearings no doubt have taken the brunt of the damage, but continued to do their job long enough.
