is anyone insuring there import on a proper traditional classic policy (I understand about all the terms and c's to do with this route)

Footman James i'm with. 29 with a 1995 TT SWB on a proper classic policy. I was paying £230 last year but it almost doubled this year due to the claim I had because of a flood plus they have changed their criteria. Will probably look elsewhere next year like Heritage or Carol Nash maybe

I use performance direct , im 41, full NCB etc fully comp £230 quid .

I went on compare the market just for a laugh and was quoted £152 fully comp. Currently £220 with footman james.

Do you still gt your ncb with classic insurance, some time ago they never honoured it, also are you entitled to drive other peoples cars third oarty with classic I surance?

Hiw many miles do you don on classic and what year does it have to be? Might look into this as I woulr love another zed

You dont earn NCB on a proper classic policy. Even if they do give it, another company may then not allow you to use it

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

As Bird said yyou dont earn NCB , but they do honour it ( with my provider anyway), you can drive other vehicles 3rd party for a small additional fee , and I am limited to a 5 K max miles per year ( not bad as ive only managed about 100 so bloomin far due to the weather ) as for the year im sorry I dont know , my car is a 93 if it helps ,

I use Heritage, started a new policy with 0 NCB as other cars are on a joint with wife. Heritage have been very competative so far.

I think on the driving other cars thing, it's important to check this with the provider as all companies are different and its not something companies always do (even on normal policies). People normally take it for granted that they can drive other cars under there insurance but isn't always the case

you lose any no claims if you havnt insured a vehicle in over 2yrs but if you speak to your last insurance coy they norm give you a bit of ncd back,

make sure they are quoting for the fairlady if uts an import or 300zxtwin turbo if its uk as i was quoted 137 pounds with flux direct then they came back with oh sorry we quoted for the 300zx single turbo even though they were told it was a 93 ....they then came back with over 650 pounds...all mods declared .....got it all mods declared with performance direct for 320 which i still think is steep for a 53 year old living in sleepy morecambe on 3000 a year ...

I'm same as you mate, 30, no NCB as I worked away and didn't drive for over 2 years so lost it (arseholes), this was last year, but footman james did me an all singing all dancing policy, wheels declared, £203, to say I was chuffed was an understatement. Got my renewal a few weesk ago, gone up to 223 quid, but she's off the road at the mo anyways, deffo try footman james....

Last year with FJ I paid £180, 25yo, driving 4 years and with a fault claim. I thought it was very good indeed.

Yeah it is an import. But, also, with footman james, you have to have access to another car, I'm a named driver on my Mum's, told them that, and they didn't ask another question about it...
